Does anyone remember Sonic Adventures DX? I played it the other day remembering it as one of the best games I'd ever played. When I was done I was disappointed. Shoddy controls, horrific camera placement, I clipped through the environment several times and a stage was nigh unbeatable due to the constantly changing camera orientation throwing me off the map.

But enough of that. Do any of you even remember this thing? What did you think of it? What do you think of it now?

I've never been a Sonic fan (honestly I'm kind of glad at this point), so no, I have never even heard of that game. Have you played Sonic CD? I've heard it's the best in the series.

I tried it once but the disk was broken.

I kinda had a moment like that recently. I played SA1 and SA2 again and was like "what the hell? this isn't what I remember" and stopped playing them. After about a week, I put them back in and I managed to ignore the glitches. Maybe that'll be the same for you, try playing it again. If not, I understand, I don't think it's aged all too well.

I remember playing this on a friends computer a few years ago, thinking it was brilliant and then playing it again earlier this year and thinking how stupid I was for liking it. The controls were clunky and difficult to get the hang of after not playing it for so long and the graphics looked like someone had taken a sheet of clingfilm and put it over everything that had detail giving it weird bumps and grooves.

DX is the Gamecube version right?

Hell, I still have that game, and it plays just how I remember, fast enough for me to break it. Though to be fair if you knew what the hell you were doing in the Genisis games you could break those in similar ways.

Bad controls? Yup.

Bad Camera? In more than one spot.

Clipping issues? You damned well better believe it.

But hell if I still don't enjoy it.

I think I rented that once, but never got too far. I did play the shit out of Adventure 2, though.

I absolutely loved the sonic adventure games when I was a kid. So I replayed Sonic Adventure when it came out on steam not long ago and you know what, I still loved it in spite of it's bugs (which, I concur, were rather numerous). It's even got me eyeing up this newfangled Sonic Generations, which likely won't last unpurchased through the steam winter sale. Still, to each their own.
