It happens. But what can you do? You aren't really an "adult" to anybody no matter what the government legally says about it.

If I shave, get a good nights sleep (which never happens) and let my hair grow out to the point where it no longer stands up and adapts that stupid "dome" type look, I look about my age. Usually I would say I look like I'm in my mid 20s.

Most people assume I'm several years older than I actually am, at least when it comes to my personality and maturity. But physically, my style has shifted over the year, and based on that alone, a lot of people assume I'm younger. It doesn't bother me because I choose to dress this way, and unfortunately, so do a lot of tweens.
This. Except the tween part.
I fucking HATE that word.
It sounds so goddamn stupid!
Teen. *Ahem*

Apparently I look about 18 when I'm 15 turning 16. No idea how they get that, I assume it's because I'm just so ruggedly handsome :p

I have the opposite problem. When I'm not explicitly with people who seem close to my age, many people think I'm older than I am. I'm just a high school freshman, but I've been mistaken for a Junior on numerous occasions. Also, a while ago at a midnight game launch, some people I was talking with thought I was college-age.

I am 14 and have been mistaken for a 17 year old and the like......which is rather odd as I don't think I look that mature, perhaps it is my rather large nose...........hhmmmf.
Anyways it doesn't bother me in the slightest bit

A little while back, I was out at a pub with my friends to celebrate my birthday (I turned twenty one.) When the waitress asked us what we wanted to drink. I asked for a Keiths and she said that someone that is my age should not be ordering beer. I asked how old she thought I was. She responded with the straightest face ?turning sixteen". I was so pissed. I showed her my ID and said to suck on that and told her she just lost her tip for that night.

I did not let this bother me, but just today when I was walking my dog at about eleven in the morning. A woman had come up to me asking about my dog and then asked why I was not in school. I told her that I was finished school and I was in college. She had apologized and said that I looked seventeen.

I know this should not bother me but it does because I am in my early twenties and people who look at me think I am still in secondary school.
So my question is
Have you ever been mistaken for being older or younger and does it bother you?
You should be happy, I'd kill to look that young. I'm just now turning 18 and people say I look like I'm in my twenties. Guess who's buying the beer with the fake I.D.? Me because half the time they don't even ask to see it. I guess I'm just having a midlife crisis at 18. But when you get older and your 40, and everyone thinks your 30, your gonna be damn happy about this so called "problem".

You really shouldn't have been so hard on that waitress, a simple mistake. You'll appreciate that youthful look when you're older.

Well, at a bar in my hometown, the bartender once asked me if I'd like a beer or some wine... that was when I was 14, mind you.
But that's just the most prominent example I can think of right now. I've had this nice rugged facial hair since I was about 13 and 1/2. It made for... interesting moments at college parties with my sister.
But with those genetics, aging the way I am, that probably means I'll die at 40 or something, lol.

When I was 16 I'd been told that I looked older. Wasn't given an age but just that I looked older. Now that I'm 26 my age has been guessed as being as low as 16 and as high as 24. Even people that I work with and know my age have a hard time believing it. In fact I look back at my old student ID from when I started college and think that I looked way younger than I was. At this point I just take it in stride. It's funny to see peoples faces when they find out how old I really am.

I'm 31 and people don't think I'm a day over 24. Take it as a compliment, I sure as hell do.

Hah, I remember once I got into a movie under a child ticket when I was seventeen. Other then that one time I don't see it often unless I have just recently shaved.

I'm 19 but I look like I'm 15 or 16, I'm sure it will be nice when I'm in my thirties and people will think I'm in my twenties so no complaints.
