I'm sure you're a lovely human being and all that jazz, but I feel deeply offended that this thought could even cross your mind!
I know SOMEONE had to like it... but... really? Dude...?

Final Fantasy X, despite the lineal maps and stupid minigames, is still my favorite of the series.
I second that. Don't know what it is about it. Music? Story? Environments? Easily my favourite of the series as well. Wakka's one of the best video game characters ever.

Okay, I'll give it to you that that's kind of cool, but I reserve the right to despise the Mako on the grounds that I didn't need to be mowing things down to have that same driving experience. That would be my Shepard driving to Space-Tesco.

Armored Core series

the missions are short as hell, tend to be unforgiving if your giant robot isn't optimised to both your fighting style and the type of mission, the fights against other AC's can and will try your patience to the point that you nearly throw your controller through the tv screen as you ragequit, the plot is more often than not a joke, and more time is spent customising and painting your AC than actually using it in combat

but what can i say, i like zooming through the sky in a giant robot raining death in bullet, laser and missile form onto those below, and making said robot is half the fun

Nostalgic:
Super Mario RPG. I know that by today's standards, the combat system is a little dated (yet it is still fun even compared to other turn-based RPGs), the story is flimsy (almost even by Mario standards), and there are plenty of re-skinned enemies, but it's just so much fun. It has aged well, IMO. Hell, gameplay-wise, it beats a few modern day RPGs.

Recent:
Assassin's Creed 2. The combat still leaves much to be desired, it's not as hard as AC1, seems less focused on stealth than AC1, and the plot is borderline ridiculous (in both the good and bad ways), the later "Truth" puzzles get downright stupidly hard (and not in the good way), and there is a trick to being able to skip the first stage of the end-boss (before you fight him with your bare hands). Yet I still loved every single second of it, becuase it was fun, the story had me interested even in it's silliest moments, and there were good characters. And did I mention it was fun? That's kind of a big thing...

Also, I agree with the guy who said Skies of Arcadia.

Remind me of those levels. I remember there being some bad levels you go into but I can't really think.
The Spanish inmate's mind, a Spanish town that's all coloured in neon colours & black. There's a bull charging around the streets so you have to make your away across through & above the buildings, & fighting four wrestlers who represent his bullies in highschool.

The other is kind of like a big map of some French place, as sort of board game, in the bloke who thinks he's Napoleon half the time. You have to do all these little errands for the guy's pieces so he can defeat Napoleon at the board game.
I didn't think neon Spain was that bad.

The first Fable game (and/or The Lost Chapters). Sure the combat was shallow and the story was cheesy but it had huge charm and a high level of additiveness. Shame the sequels couldn't quite replicate it.

OT: Legacy of Kain: Defiance. Sure it had bad controls, and a terrible camera sometimes, and the semi-cliffhanger it leaves you with makes me sad because there is no sequel, but damn if the story, dialogue, characters, gameplay (when it works), soundtrack, and the atmosphere it can create make me replay it over and over.

Legacy of Kain. All of 'em. From the top-down pixelfest of BO1, to the highlander II-esque WTF of BO-2, the box-shovey SR1, to the 'Shit, MORE of these things' demons in SR2, through to the 'Fuck you player, I wanna look at this unoffending bush while things beat you up off screen' camera of Defiance.

Come on Amy, you beautiful goddess of awesome. Finish the damn story so I can die happy.

While we're on the subject of games that desperately need a sequel. Freelancer. Do. Want.

Gothic 2. My most favorite game but it has its flaws. Still, there is no other game like it.

Freakin' Perfect Dark Zero.
The characters look like they have acrylic skin. Popping out of cover is nightmare if you're not aiming right. Do anything reckless and you die. The hardest diffuculty takes a good while to study and beat one level. One checkpoint. Playing coop just makes things harder.
But it's good fun.

Killer7.

So weird/pretentious/nonsensical, with gameplay that makes about as much sense. But I absolutely adore this game. It has atmosphere in spades, and it truly makes me feel like I'm trapped inside a nightmare world in which nothing truly makes a lot of sense, but honestly, it doesn't HAVE to. The gameplay enhances that feeling by emphasizing the presentation of the world instead of being traditional shooter style gameplay.

It, along with Yakuza 2 and Shiina Ringo, comprise three things in my life that unrepentantly, irrevocably cool with absolutely nothing about them that isn't cool.

Lost Planet 2, some of the aiming, and hit detection could have been fixed but its a great game for me nevertheless.

Morrowind is definately the one. Nothing better than playing it for the first time, going to smack someone over the head with a sword and getting absolutely nothing. Genius.

Run Like Hell. The controls were awful, despite having old hats from the sci-fi genre (i.e. Lance Henriksen and Kate Mulgrew) atrocious voice acting, and an embarrassing amount of product placement by a fledgling energy drink company that didn't realize its product tasted like two-day-old mule piss, the story in and of itself was compelling and I played all the way through to see what I already knew was going to happen. Ah, Run Like Hell. My guiltiest of gaming pleasures.

Well New Vegas has its glitches but I still find that its pretty fun to play. Maybe even more so than Fallout 3.

[Prototype] is another one that I really like. Say what you will about it, the gameplay takes me back to playing The Incrediable Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. I mean I had like partial deja vu when I started playing it. And I LOOOOOOOOVE the aethetic for the infection. Its just so cool.

:p Teehee!

That was the roughest Mako/Colossus sex I've ever seen.

Come to think of it, yeah Mass Effect 1 & 2 both had their own problems with gameplay, but it wasn't that bad and I loved the storyline in both of them.

Final Fantasy 8:
Yes, it has a broken combat system.
Yes, for a 'love story' the main characters never even say the word 'love'.
Yes, some of the plot is really stupid (omg these monsters we're using made us forget we knew each-other? lol!)

But regardless, I really enjoy the game.

Saints Row 2, but honestly I liked it a hell of a lot more than GTA IV. I guess just because you can't go on the internet or watch TV in a video game make you inferior.
