Eh, I'm 50/50

none of my friends are nerds, but growing up with a nerd (my dad, and his whole circle of friends for that matter) exposed me to a lot of nerd culture, so I'm into nerdy things, but don't hang out with nerds.

i'm not a nerd! nerds are clever...

i'd say i'm a computer games enthusiast. but then the definition of nerd changes on who you ask, requirements range from having glasses, to using proper diction.

The only "nerdy" thing about me is that I like videogames and the internet. I don't like sci fi, I don't like anime, I've never gotten strait As, I don't play DnD or WoW, I'm in good shape, have a lot of friends, play heavy music on guitar, don't wear glasses, don't have acne, and I've never read a comic book in my life. So I would say no.
It's interesting that you associate liking sci-fi, anime, comic books, MMORPGs or tabletop games, and (especially) getting good grades with being friendless, fat, myopic and acne-ridden.

I'm not a nerd in terms of looks because i'm generally greeted with looks of total surprise if I say something nerdy in front of someone who wasn't already aware of it.
but personality-wise I am a full blown nerd. I reference games quite a lot in normal conversation, unintentionally and I have no idea how i manage it.

I love sci-fi, anime, comic books, i'm an ex WoW-er and play tabletop games occasionally, get good grades and i wear glasses. BUT I've got plenty of friends (i'm quite popular in school to be honest), I'm in very good shape, and i've got very little spots...

does this mean i can't call myself a nerd? D: ¬.¬

I truly discovered that I was a nerd when before an exam I yelled out with a friend, "Let's do this! LEEEROOYYYY JEEEENNKIINNNNNSSS!!!" (a cookie if you get the reference).
And I can quote Monty Python and the Holy Grail from beginning to end, as well as the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy.
And I played D&D.
And in my group of friends I am known as 'the gamer'.
And I consider getting below 80% on something is a fail.
And......... yeah.
I'm cool. :D

No, those people are nerds. Only they are insecure about it and feel the need to remind everyone that they are not a nerd and then attempt to justify it.

I've seen so many people, get accused when someone calls them a nerd (ie, feel targeted, so display of insecurity) and then come up with some logical rebuttal which only shows how insecure they really are. Once you try and justify your image, you are only showing how insecure you are about your image and how afraid as to how people might see you. So the more you try to "prove" that you're not a nerd, the more you essentially shoot yourself in the foot.

Truly non-nerdy people wouldn't give a shit.

There are positive, neutral, and negative qualities that define a nerd. They don't always necessarily correlate to or accompany each other.

I feel all the nerdier for getting that reference...

Am I a nerd? I've been to PAX. They pretty much hand out nerd badges there.

Nerd secret:

The older generation of White Wolf games - Vampire: the Masquerade, Werewolf: the Apocalypse, and so on - are better. But if you can't even find D&Ders in your town good luck finding people who've even heard of the World of Darkness, much less play or DM it.

I am all nerd, all the time.

I was got into a debate with a friend of who was better, Kirk or Picard (We settled on Sisko). Another friend and I once quoted "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" on a half hour bus ride, scene by scene.

ALL NERD, ALL THE TIME! OH YEAH!

Pretty much a nerd. I make nerdy references, I know a bit too much about certain nerdy subjects. But I'm a nerd in many things. Games, philosophy, political philosophy, religion, music, guitar, violin. There's just so much I can interest myself in to a very high level.
