To be fair, Top Notch was added to the item schema before the whole Yogscast thing. Coincidences are...something. Lost my train of thought.

Can somebody please explain why this guy is getting so much attention? I mean, granted, he made one of the most successful indie games ever, but it's not like he didn't receive compensation for it (i.e.: craploads of money).

So...wut? Because he made a ton of money, that means that he shouldn't get any attention? The world works in exactly the opposite way.

Oh, no, don't get me wrong, i'm not bothered about it. I just enjoy the way the world works sometimes. Just as the flames die down a bit something new comes along and stirs them back to life. Its beautiful really.

I believe the "drooling retards" he was referring to are the people who began to DDoS the Yogscast website, then people supporting said DDoS'ing... Also the guy who yelled at and insulted them on the airport when they got back to the UK.

What I, and I imagine most have a problem with is how he started it all when it should have been something dealt with in private, especially considering the claims appear to have been based entirely on hearsay... But as has been said, best to just let it die down I guess :/

No, you pointing out the recently passed flame war as the first comment draws attention to it, not a TF2 hat. See post #7 that had no idea what the hell this flame war even was until you brought it up and he had to ask what you were talking about. Most everyone else who knew about the entire thing was happy with Notch apologizing, Yogscast accepting the apology, and both parties moving on. You're the one still bringing it up, you're the one still making an issue out of the entire affair despite the fact that it ended.

They were doing something at minecon, notch was in a bad mood, notch called them dicks and banned them from minecon, yogscast explained what they did and said, notch apologized, people like the second poster apparently still hate notch despite the apology.

HEll, I was't there, I don't know who was right or wrong, whatever those words fucking mean. ALl I can say is that Notch should have settled this dispute with them before running his mouth on twitter, it made him look very unprofessional, and made his argument incredibly invalid right off the bat. Take that into consideration. I still have tremendous respect for Yogscast and Notch, and they are human.. you know. A couple of human mistakes are to be expected. Do forgive if it sounds like I'm flaming in your direction, just stating my opinion on why Notch was in the wrong on this one, eh.

Since I'm on the topic, without Notch allowing word-of-mouth through Youtube, Yogscast would not be as popular if he didn't allow word-of-mouth. So in theory they should be more grateful towards him. But other then that, lets not bring it up again.

How some retard playing around with java could make such an unappealing concept into a video game and sell thousands of copies is beyond me... People really are just like honour students at the fingerpainting academy

Its fun to build shit, Garry's Mod is a shit-tastic game yet thousands of people play it daily. And maybe thousands buy it daily. It has a certain appeal that some can't turn away. My draw to it was the blocks themselves, mainly because each block was different and acted differently then others. Even just seeing the blocky world reminded me of what Mario sees in Super Mario World. Also, coding, even in Java, is tedious as hell, its not something you can easily mess with and somehow get the same result.

of course we do. Yogscast lost ALOT of subscribers, which in turn means that they lose money and their site got DDOS'd. it wasn't till after that notch apologized. an apology doesn't fix that.

I don't care if they did, Notch in theory allows them to make money off of his creation in turn for free publicity. However, everyone overlooks the fact that Youtube will actually pull down videos, EVEN CHANNELS if the content is copyrighted enough. That means Yogscast channel could be gone for good if Notch just felt like flagging it one day. But that hasn't happened so lets get the fuck over this.

I am not sure here, but Valve may be just missing the opportunity for more money to come from their egg. All they need is to put out the word that anyone can get their own original hat into TF2 with just a small handful of money. Keep in mind those people are making money off of their videos that isn't going to Notch. One can supplement their income quite nicely with steady videos fed to Youtube. It's no different than someone showing Let's Plays of Assassin's Creed, and flaming Ubisoft every chance they get. The only difference here is Notch let it get to him, and he reacted. Frankly, both of them erred in their actions, but both of them have done their part to resolve this and move on. It is long since time everyone else did, too.

What incentive, pray tell? Hundreds of people that were at Minecon have commented on Reddit and such that the Yogscast guys were great with their fans.
