I'd say. "Damn kid, you want me to buy this game for you? No. You can play my old N64. I'm going to buy this new shiny console and awesome new game for myself!"
Then the kid would grow up to only like old games and our house would be one of constant war... with Nerf Guns and ammo caches all over the house.

Yeah, but limited weapons was a game balance thing, and the regenerating health was a story and gameplay thing. Absolutely none of it was really focused on realism.
Goldeneye was a grey/brown shooter with horrendous AI and based only on some vague
East European threat trying to "take over the world" or some crap. Clearly just British jingoistic masturbation with too much focus on realism.

Seriously though, your attacks against Halo are about as off as that attack against Goldeneye was. Halo is not at ALL the decent of the shooter into modern realism and grey/brown. You can put the original World War 2 shooters into that category, from well before Halo.
