When I was a kid...

1) Girls didn't start dressing like sluts until they were at least sixteen.
2) "Going for a raid" did not count as social interaction.
3) MacDonalds was just a fast food chain and not the unquestioned supreme ruler of everything.

"When I was a young boy, I was a girl."

EDIT: People actually took some responsibilities for their actions.

Dan, ninjad. I would have to say this, even to gamers of this age.

For my kids in 10 years or so? Hmm..

"Back in my day, games had single player modes!"
oh shit
I call for the immediate abolition of multyplayer

Rainbow Six, SWAT, Delta Force, they were all before Halo.[/quote]

when were they from? and they are more tactical because of your team.
ps i know HALO is not that realistic. but it had the elements of limited weapons and no health bar

Sorry had to do that.

"When i was a lad we had to get up before we went to sleep and walk 10 miles to school in the snow while our fathers drove behind and yelled abuse at us. And we loved it"

I'd say. "Damn kid, you want me to buy this game for you? No. You can play my old N64. I'm going to buy this new shiny console and awesome new game for myself!"

Then the kid would grow up to only like old games and our house would be one of constant war... with Nerf Guns and ammo caches all over the house.

Yeah, but limited weapons was a game balance thing, and the regenerating health was a story and gameplay thing. Absolutely none of it was really focused on realism.

Goldeneye was a grey/brown shooter with horrendous AI and based only on some vague
East European threat trying to "take over the world" or some crap. Clearly just British jingoistic masturbation with too much focus on realism.

/troll

Seriously though, your attacks against Halo are about as off as that attack against Goldeneye was. Halo is not at ALL the decent of the shooter into modern realism and grey/brown. You can put the original World War 2 shooters into that category, from well before Halo.

When I was a kid we used to have violent videogames, but we had to think of the children and there gone

We use to drink alcohol, but we had to think of the children so it was banned

We used to play sports, but sometimes other kids lost so we had to get rid of sports because we had to think the children.

We used of have some much variety of food to eat, but some kids got fat, and now we eat dried vitamin tablets because we had to think the children.

And so on...

Bloody hell, Beauty and the Beast...sad that I recognised it.

When I was your age, Fags cost £3 a packet, the bus cost 80p to get into town, we could smoke in pubs. When we played war we did it with sticks whilst making machine gun noises, none of this K/D ratio, kill streak perk bollocks. We had music on the radio that wasn't dominated by X Factor. Alcopops were only just becoming fashionable. We had to rewind our VHS tapes after watching them and that could take forever. VHS tapes cost over £10 when new. It took half an hour to download a song.

When I was your age there was a Woolworths in nearly every town. Cadbury was still a British owned company. You were allowed outside when it was snowing, you could (and were actively encouraged to) play conkers. We only had 4 tv channels. Smacking badly behaved children was perfectly fine. Speed cameras didn't exist. I was 7 when we had the first national lottery. I remember going to the cinema to watch Jurrassic Park.

Yeah, if I can say this to 16 year olds now and have them give me blank expressions, imagine what I'll be like if I ever have grand children? :s

Back in my day, we had only 649 Pokemon, you kids today with your 1831 newfangled critters are spoiled, we had that 600 and we LIKED EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM. We only had Black and White versions, sonny. Those were the good days.
