Nvidia Update made some of my games lag

More specifically I have been having a blast playing Metro 2033. However, I recently bought Serious Sam 3, which required me to update my drivers. I did the automatic download off of their site, it failed for some reason, but that didn't really matter since SS3 was running without a hiccup. Feeling a bit exhausted from the constant run and gun, I went back to Metro 2033, but I got a message saying my graphics card is unsupported. The game is now lagging to the point where it's unplayable.

I have no idea how to fix this, any advice?

Take this with a grain of salt, because I've always used AMD, and it may be different, but is it possible that it failed at some point between deleting the old drivers and installing the new ones? I know Windows has generic drivers that work with the onboard card in my laptop, and it's possible that Serious Sam 3 runs just fine on those generic drivers, while Metro 2033 needs the official Nvidia ones. If I were you, I'd try running the utility again, and if that fails, manually removing any remaining old drivers and reinstalling them from scratch.
