Hm, we need to just broaden this law to incorporate any unnecessary distractions.

No using contact devices while driving? No, that still leaves out those God awful people who apply make-up on the move...

In a perfect world, the only reason there'd be no laws is because everybody would have the common sense not to do stupid.

I thought people could already be fired for incompetence?
Yes, but unfourtunetly retardation exists and half the people working for the government could easily claim discrimination (Here's looking at you Hillary)

Good move on his part. He'll keep people safe. Which, last time I heard, is a good thing.
But of course, someone is going to come out of the woodwork and attempt to turn it against him. Don't ask me how, but it's going to happen. It always does.

Oh, society, how I love it. It's quite sad that that will happen. Hopefully, he gets destroyed by logic.

Good. If I had my way, anyone responsible for a traffic accident due to texting while driving, would be shot on the spot.
This so much.

We already have that in the UK. It's illegal to be on your phone in any way whilst driving. I'm also fairly sure that includes hands free kits.

Anyone who texts while driving is openly saying, "I'm more human than you and, thus, I have the right to put you in danger."

There's no argument against it. You are openly saying you are better than me, have more right to exist than I do, if you do something dangerous that puts me in harms way.

Anyone who texts while driving is an idiot that's going to get someone killed. I'm glad Obama's at least attempted to make sure that his own people know they can't do this on his dime.

As the kids are saying these days, "this". Man, it's a crying shame that folks have to have this spelled out in the form of a whole new law... and that there are going to be two-legged cattle objecting to the ban because they're too stupid to avoid crapping on their food "entitled" to behave however they like in their precious car.

I nearly got run over last year by a moron coming out of a polling station; I feel free to call said driver a moron because a) he peeled out of the parking lot into traffic from a polling station with like cops there and everything, b) he was texting while merging into traffic, c) he was the sole occupant of a humongous SUV, d) which was a Cadillac Escalade, which doesn't even have the slender excuse of occasional utility to justify the vast and ugly conspicuous-consuming bulk.

I say thin the herd. "Text In Car" is the next "hoof and mouth"; cull 'em and burn the bodies before the stupid spreads.

Ya texting needs a nationwide ban because there are a whole lot of teenage girls out there who get their jollies off by sending at least 10000 texts a day and a lot of those are coming while driving. It just isnt smart for people who suck at driving in the first place to be texting as well. Thats worse then drinking and driving.

Good. I was once in a car when someone did this. It was the most terrifying experience in a car that I've had to date, even going so far as to top clipping a deer.

What? Why did this law only get here now? Didn't it occur to someone else that text messaging and driving is an incredibly dangerous and should be outlawed? Are government officials in the US really that slow? Hell, here it's illegal to use any electronic device while driving, whether it's your phone, satnav or cigarette lighter.

Obama is merely spreading his communist ideals and trying to destroy our very way of life! He does not care for people, he just wants to steal all our money!

...is what the typical anti-Obamarite would say. Seriously, I didn't think my opinion of some Americans could sink any lower.
