Having finished the main quest for ES IV recently I noted that the Blades up at Cloud Ruler Temple, say that with no Emperor to protect that they are waiting for the next dragon born. From what I know about Skyrim, there is an old Blade assosiated with your character, and don't they call him dovakin, dragon born? Does this mean that our character is going to be a decendant of akitosh (sp) This may be obvious for some of you, but I just wanted anothers perspective.

In a way, yes. I think the emperors were all supposed to be either dragonborn or at least have some essence of dragon blood in them. Perhaps Dovahkiin in Skyrim might have some kind of purpose, rather than just to help the plot along like in Oblivion, where, let's be honest, it was Martin Septim's Adventures in Cyrodill, rather than the protagonist having any story for himself.

Not sure about that. Sounds logical in a way. But I doubt we will be crowned high emperor of all we seen though.

SOmething about barbarics and axes lodged into skulls. :p

Could you imagine the conversation.

"Look, we can't crown you emperor if you're going to go around ramming your axe in random peoples faces, how would that look to your subjects".

Well sure, although don't expect to be crowned Emperor any time soon, this is set I think two hundred years in the future from Oblivion and I'm pretty sure the Nords would have violently seceded since then, since they were never too happy to be a part of the Empire in the first place.

And there will be laughter....
And axe-to-face moments :)

Cuz... You know, traditionally my first character really doesn't care about person #1 or #2.
As long as it dies from the axe, it's allright |3

And if it's magic, it'll keep ramming on it till the game stops saying 'it doesn't affect ' and just gives up :D

(possibly the emperor gets an axe in the face?)

All the dragonborn were supposed to be gone....

So, like, what if your characters part of a new batch? Like however dragonborns were originally made, it happened again? It would explain the beastmen and elven dragonborn players are going to make, since its supposed to be a nord thing.

But the Obivion game had imperials as the dragon born. So why go with Nords now?

All humans but redguards are descended from nords in the elder scrolls. Besides the septims have mixed lineage iirc.

from what i remember, the imperials were descended from the nords in the first place. the whole dragonborn things has to do with some ancient powers imperials/nords used to have called the roar, or the voice, or something. very similar to the dragon shouts they're putting into tesv
EDIT: nath'd

Aye. Martin's Story could have worked even still with you as his right hand, if only we saw Martin grow as a character, rather than him giving us exposition about his progress. This is the problem with keeping an important character out of the plot for so long; you lose all sense of urgency for them, and they basically become a walking MacGuffin.

The framework for a good story is there; but it never came to be.

Very, very interesting. I didn't know that. I am new(ish) to the Elder Scrolls. I started playing with IV, but my brother got me interested by showing me III. So why do we have Dwarven armor and weapons, but no Dwarves?

EDIT: Damn Dwarved... always getting in the way lol

The dwarven race is gone (mostly) , they dissapeared during the battle of red mountain. No one is absolutely certain where they went/what happened, but the whole race (bar one exception) is gone.

I'd suggest reading some lore on uesp, it's pretty interesting :)

you know, they do sing in the trailer 'dovahkiin our king who will dawn with fire'

So is that to be taken literally, is the dragonborn meant to be king? Maybe we can wrest the crown from the old king like Conan!

Wait, so every king in Tamriel needs to be dragon born. nah. Don't stop at king. Look towards Emperor.

it kind of sucks that the only dwarf you meet dies from a disease and is bloated so he looks more like a blob than a dwarf.:(

Nords havn't sededed yet they are one of the most loyal provinces in the empire. They were the first to join the empire and have done many things in their regard. In the opening of Skyrim they are thinking about seceding with the kings death while others want to remain loyal to the empire. Hence the mention of civil war in the trailer.
