Hey all,
So in anticipation for skyrim I really have a craving for an oblivion clone, but not just any, I really want to play one co-op, on the PC. I'm not sure how many of them there are out there, but I really hope you guys can suggest a good one to me. Thank you!

Edit: I also wouldn't mind an older game, nothing to old, but I don't mind a bit of blocky graphics

Well... You just can't nail oblivion without being oblivion...

So I will suggest a few game

A) The Fallout series, Chances are if you liked oblivion you will like them as well.
B) Games earlier in the series, For example Daggerfall or morrowind.

Otherwise I don't know how you will get close.

Dwarf Fortress. You'll love it.

I'm going to hell for this.

To make an actual contribution. I think I know a lot of games on the PC and as far as I'm concerned. There is no clone of Oblivion that allows for co-operative game play. Maybe get Dungeon Siege II and play that with a bunch of people.
Actually. I don't think you can get a co-op mode for a game like Oblivion. I just don't know any. Fable III doesn't count, that's crappy and probably not what you want. So yeah. You don't have an option other than playing Oblivion again. Or Deus Ex, which is really, really good. Or play some Homeworld, which is among the best games ever. Or get Morrowind, see how far they've advanced in between games. But a co-op RPG the size of Oblivion on the PC that is also not crappy? Tough luck.

Well Daggerfall's a really acquired taste. OP, you're alot more likely to enjoy Morrowind.

I actually looked up a few tutorials for that when I was bored one day, I sat there slack jawed, huddling in the corner saying "I am a gamer, no really, I am, I don't care how much better he is"

As javarock said, Fallout or Morrowind. Fallout has similar gameplay and quest structure but vastly different setting, while morrowind is a somewhat less streamlined Oblivion. Some see that as a good thing some say the opposite, it basically comes down to taste.

I can't name any good clones from other companies however. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic has a similar combat system and setting, but it's a linear rpg instead of the sandbox/open world of Oblivion.

I like it. It speaks to the part of me that always wanted to create a giant world filled with completely and utterly insane people, build a mighty fortress despite everyone trying their very hardest to kill themselves and everyone around them if the slightest bit goes wrong, then flood it with Lava. Or demons...or demons made out of lava that are also unkillable.

The only actually good co-op game with RPG elements that I can think of is Borderlands, but it's a pretty far cry from Oblivion. But yeah, Morrowind's where it's at. It's like oblivion with a better world and worse graphics, although there are mods for the last one. And New Vegas is awesome.

It's not that hard. Well...yeah actuall it is that hard. But stay with it, get behind the horrendous controls and the ugly ASCII (I do use a tileset) and you'll be rewarded with one of the most amazing games I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. Generate a thousand years of history with the most out there stories ever, then settle in the most ridiculous regions (preferrably a haunted volcano on a glacier or something) and try and see just how much of a masochist you are for staying alive to see at least one of the children grow old enough to actually work. Then flood it with lots of Magma.

Morrowind is absolutely epic in scope, if you can put up with the fact that it was obviously made in 2002 then it's incredibly playable.

I have played fallout, and new vegas, fantastic games, but not co-op sadly, and i was thinking of playing morrowwind, and probably will if I can't find a co-op one.

Doing some research I have found two possibilities

1. Dungeon lords, It has some pretty bad reviews however, but it seems more or less open world, and I know it's co-op, anyone have any direct comments on it?

2. Dungeons and dragon's daggerdale, this one has even worse reviews, and I don't really know anything about it past that, any opinions would be a great help

Ok, how about just really any co-op pc game lol, no shooters or "simulators" though, not in the mood for them right now.

Avoid that game, no really. IIRC It was first released buggy and unfinished, and then was released as a 'Collector's Edition' which meant anyone who bought the first release had to re-buy it to get a patched copy, which still wasn't a good game.

Really? I played it for a few hours a couple years ago and it seemed.. passable, then again it was with a buddy, also we where drunk... and it was 2am.. might have been a bad game

Hmm, that sounds like an ideal way of playing it to be honest, kind of like the way a bad movie is better with beer & friends too... but yeah, unless you have it lying around already I'd steer away from it.

To give an actual suggestion, I'd say try out the Gothic series. I've played the first myself and have heard great things about the second one (Gold version with expansion anyway). Combat is a little tricky to get the hang of at first, but it's just a matter of habit (speaking of the first, haven't gotten the chance to try #2 myself). They're ten bucks a pop on GoG, Steam's also an option though the price is kind of wonky for the first (but they do have a collecion of 1-3 for twenty bucks or so).

Edit: Disregard above, forgot your need for co-op. To be honest outside of MMOs & Action-RPGs I don't know of many that are co-op/multiplayer.

Thank you kindly, are they co-op? if not I will still probably give them a try in a bit, but my buddy really wants to play something haha

Grr, tried to edit that in, but sadly they are not. After a bit more thinking & internet look up all I can think of for open-world co-op would be Baldur's Gate I&II, NWN I&II, and maybe Icewind Dale I&II if you'll allow the asterisk to note it's more linear.

Beyond that you're strictly stuck to Diablo clones, MMOs, or games like Daggerdale (going to give it a shot myself, but new comp will be required.)
