I'm playing Oblivion on my computer. I have a handful of mods, but none of them really add much. Sure,I have Supreme Magicka (and by extention OBSE V20),and the Lavish Mage's Tower (and, again by extension,Common Oblivion). However,I'm looking for something...Different.

I tried looking through the TESNexus. I can never find a mod that adds anything beyond new items,or a shop or two. Does anyone here know of a mod (or several?) that actually adds a storyline to the game? I know they exist, but I simply haven't been able to find one.

I have the following Official Content for Oblivion;

-Oblivion (Duh...)
-The Shivering Isles

For mods,I have a fair chunk,actually.

-Oblivion Script Extender v20 (OBSE 20)
-Common Oblivion (COBL)
-Lavish Mage's Tower
-Supreme Magicka
-Levithan's Soul Gems Abridged
-Better Gem Prices
-Some mod that adds four specialized shops (Weapons,Armour,Alchemy,Master Magic) to the Market District
-Dark Green Glass Armour (Does anyone else hate the colour of Vanilla's glass armour?)
-Elven Weapon Weight Reduction
-Jov's Mages Gloves
-Light Glass Equipment
-More Rewarding Loot List (adds a "jackpot" element to finding gold while looting containers or pockets)
-Rsh Alchemy Extender

The above list is provided, just in case there are mod conflicts. Also,I REFUSE TO USE OBLIVION MOD MANAGER. I tried using it before, and it completely broke my game. I had to reinstall. If the mod needs OBMM,don't bother bringing it up.

TL;DR: I'm looking for a story-driven mod for Oblivion,that doesn't conflict with any of the above-listed mods,and doesn't need Oblivion Mod Manager.

I hate to bring it up because of the changes it makes to gameplay (makes it a lot like Gothic), but you could consider Nehrim.

It's a total conversion mod and very well done, even if I don't like the direction they went with it.

Although the comparison to Gothic has me excited,I don't think I'm ready for a total conversion...Yet. Thank you for bringing it to my knowledge, though. Anything else?

Arium magic (something like that) is pretty good, and so is the ancient spires mod. Another suggestion is the stealth overhaul as there is a neat quest tree in it for stealth characters. Also ancient vaults.
OBMM did not break you game, you did by using it improperly.

ummm... while story isn't the primary focus, midas magic does add some story quests to it. (along with some "i will rape your ass spells")

Oh! while I haven't tried this one, it looks interesting

I'm not going to link all the decent ones so i'll give you the Nexus link to the quest and extra lands mods.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/cat.php?id=30

There are a few in those that are pretty decent and can add quite a few hours on.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=32426

That is a quest mod. You get a companion at the end but you can slap her in a house somewhere.

Depending on the power of your machine you get 2 options when it comes to the big battle. You can have a half sized battle or full battle. If you can handle it go full.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977

That one is a companion quest mod so it will depend on if you mind having company or not. It does have a pretty decent quest and story to it though so if you can cope with companions thats one to go for.

If you get bored of Oblivion as a whole and want a mod that does a total conversion then get...

http://www.nehrim.de/indexEV.html

It turns Oblivion into a different game. People put a hell of a lot of effort and time into that one but only use it if you want something different. It changes more or less everything, quests included.

You could also look into some of the housing mods, some of those have decent quest chains to get the house at the end.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/cat.php?id=68

Thats a list of houses, castles, estates and mansions.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/cat.php?id=53

That one is villages and towns, some have story lines to them.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/cat.php?id=88

And that one is for dungeons. Some have quests, some are just dungeon crawls for new loot and/or challenging enemies.

Reclaiming Sancre Tor looks nifty...And,believe it or not,I did try Midas Magic: Spells of Aurum before. Liked it for a bit...Until I had to go into the goddamn Astral Plane for some of the unique reagents. That jump to the portal is impossible.

Modding Oblivion, and not messing with the atrocious character design?

That's the first mod I would make.

Look up the following three Mods:

- Gates to Aesgaard
- Ivellon
- Bravil: Blood and Mud

The last one may be the trickiest to deal with due to a few bugs and some localization issues (not to mention voice acting with thick accents). But you'll want to play these.

Also, it's a serious pain to download, install and get to work properly, but if you want a complete revamp of how Oblivion plays (new quests, new monsters, different skills) then look for FCOM.

EDIT: I missed the part about not wanting to need to use OBMM. I THINK the first three listed Mods work without it, but I can't be sure. FCOM definitely will not.

The Archaeologist's Guild is the best quest mod I've tried. Let's see, the link is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12997
It's called The Lost Spires, and it adds a new guild with its own quest chain and some new and quite difficult enemies.

AGES ago,I actually played the Lost Spires. Sadly,I don't remember much, besides a pyre. I guess that's a hint to take another spin on it,eh?
