I have to say that:
Oblivion - Favourite game of all time.
Fallout 3 - 2nd

So its quite clear what I like, but still I've only ever played them on PS3 and I so want to play them on PC for the mods..

I keep trying to convince myself that they are fine on PS3, for various reasons (Such as Gamepad > Mouse and keyboard) ect.

So convince me :) how much better are they on Pc?
Wait, what? Gamepad is better than mouse and keyboard? Not in game where precision is vital. FPP game, that is. Doesn't matter that much in F3, where you have VATS (unless you like shooting blindly without it), but in Oblivion? Can't imagine playing Oblivion and using a bow/spells without mouse control. Gamepad is best left to games like Assassin's Creed or Prototype or Prince of Persia... or other action games with a lot of jumping.

Also, Oblivion without mods sucks donkey balls compared to Oblivion with even just Oscuro's Overhaul. There's also a mod for overheal of magic, increasing it in power to help mages, since there is no way of powering up a mage after a certain point. Warriors always can get a better armor and weapons, mages can't improve spells without leveling up respective skills.

Oh, oh, and graphics. You can't improve graphics on the PS3. You CAN get mods that improve graphics, by a lot.

We'll I've gotta say that was one hell of a pretty picture you just painted there...
Also I must be stupid.. Last week I bought a PC/PS3 turbo controller.. guess that solves one of my problems.

Gotta say I'm very tempted.. will I need a great Spec comp? I'm sure mine would play it.. but no where near to its best potential.

And one problem for me that It could make is that in games, (Fallout 3 mainly) I love to spend hours just searching for rare items to decorate my room with.. but i fear on PC i'd just give in to the temptation of just typing in console commands and "cheating" too often to enjoy the game.. have you had this problem, or do you just have more self control than i do?

I haven't even touched my console command, I've never really felt like cheating. Use this site, it should tell you if your comp can run it or not.

I recently bought Elder Scrolls IV on Steam, now I already own the game on the 360 and while I did enjoy it, I felt that mods could reinvigorate what is fundamentally a great game.

I was surprised by how good it would be. Don't like enemies leveling to you? Get an overhaul mod like Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, no more bandits in daedric armour! Don't like the crappy HUD and menus system? There's a mod for that! Race mods, body mods, armour mods, my female assassin actually looks like a woman, not an ape! There's a mod that adds new landmarks to the world, it no longer feels like a copy and paste forest! I am thoroughly enjoying the game, more than I ever did on the 360.

So, fellow escapists, regale me with your tales of games you liked that were vastly improved by a good modding community.
The game is a glitchy clusterfuck poor excuse for a western first person rpg.
The mods take out what is essentially the core of the game and make it better.
Pity the battle system still sucks cock no matter how you slice it.

Oh.. how did I know I get abuse from that...
It's just preference. I know Mouse is much better for aiming ect. but still i would much prefer the comfort of a game pad in "relaxing" games such as these..

I say relaxing because there is no rush and still bow and arrow aiming with a pad isn't all to bad but if it was a game like MW2 online, then yes.. Mouse is pretty much essential.

Plus if i were to buy this on PC, id have my computer plugged into a TV and id be sat in my gaming chair in front of it with no real way of making a mouse and keyboard comfortable.

Still all preference my friend. I'm just used to pads.

Not really a problem. Unless you are just dicking around, finding all the codes and commands for the console is more trouble than it is worth. Because you can not copy paste into the prompt and oblivion is not alt+tab friendly.

Also outside of the shrine missions there is not all that much unique stuff around anyway worth putting on presentation.

I liked Deadly Reflexs.

Although I kept the leveling system. Without that leveling system, I might as well just go play Fallout 3.

As buggy as they are, Bethesda RPGs are up there on the list of games I could play for all eternity. Fallout 3, for me at least, is near perfect on the console, there isn't really anything that needs modding (except maybe the shitty aiming engine).

I did that many many many times. I would not play the game for a year or so, put it back into the computer, BAM! I just can't stop playing it until i finished everything.

I always viewed Oblivion as unplayable without mods.

I'm a modaholic.
If a game can be modded, I'm playing with at least 30 of them installed.

Im not the greatest fan of oblivion because after some time it really felt like I was doing always the same thing over again but I know few good mods. Try Midas magic and Retro's Arrow Fletching and Imbueing.

Personal opinion
Oblivion > Fallout 3

For on reason. Oblivion is more immersive.
Why? Because you can join the guilds, I love that you feel much more part of it.
Where as on Fallout 3
I completed the pitt in favour of not stealing the baby and keeping things how they were. I was "Ashurs"? Right hand man and yet i was still being told to "Fuck off" by the raiders that were lower ranks than me and they still treat me like shit.. it doesnt feel as much like you belong there.

No faction in Fallout 3 can you feel Part of, well nothing like the Dark brotherhood in Oblivion anyway

One of the best fallout mods I got was the Galaxy news radio update that adds about 100 new songs. It really made the gameplay better not hearing the same 10 over and over again.

Console ports have sucky interfaces when played on the PC (Borderlands is the worst offender) so you should always get a UI mod first thing that decreases font sizes, lets you see more menu items and widens your field of view.

Funny coincidence, I just finished uninstalling Oblivion. It was fun while it lasted but I really cannot be bothered with it anymore. Bring on fallout new vegas :)

If you lowered some of the settings then yeah, that would be fine.
