Ok, so, I'm going to give Oblivion another run through, this time with my selfmade magic class, but I want to get a full and unique experience out of it this time, so I'm thinking about adding in some decent mods to help that out, and would like to know if anyone on the Escapist has any suggestions for me.

So far, all I have is Natural Environments and I'm just adding in L.A.M.E. (Less Annoying Magic Experience) as we speak.

I'll give you the names of a handful of Mods I strongly recommend:

- FCOM (combines Martigen's, Oscuro's, and Francesco's overhaul Mods with WarCry. Hard to install but it gives you so very much extra content!)
- Let There Be Darkness (makes caves and underground ruins VERY dark- bring some torches!)
- Unofficial Patch (its tagline is "Close shut the flaws of Oblivion" for a reason)
- Supreme Magicka (dunno if it's compatible with LAME, but it gives you loads of new spells and lets you summon multiple creatures)
- Less Overpowered Nighteye (makes the spell/ability actually have drawbacks)
- Imperial Furniture (get your own furniture! Deck out your place the way YOU want to!)

And now you'll need new places to go with all this nifty stuff, am I right?

- Ivellion (a pitch-black castle buried for three hundred years with an unfolding story and custom enemies)
- Hoarfrost Castle (don't want to just be handed a castle like Battlehorn? Here's a great one you can earn!)
- Windfall (explore an entire island facing a civil war, LOADS of quests)
- Gates to Aesgaard 1 & 2 (Oblivion + Silent Hill + BDSM = quite the experience)
- Bravil Blood & Mud (some dodgy translations from German, and it can be maddeningly difficult at times, but the scope is not to be believed)

That's everything I can think of off the top of my head. Google searches will easily locate all of these Mods for you. Enjoy!

I'd recommend Morroblivion because it's awesome, but it's more of a separate game than an actual mod.

Could you upload a compilation pack of all those onto something like rapidshare and then post link?

Before you do anything, it is imperative that you download and install OBSE (Oblivion Script Editor). Many of the more extensive and better quality mods have OBSE as a requirement before downloading the mod. If you're going to become an avid modder, it's best to get this out of the way now.

And there is only one mod that I consider a necessity for everybody to have installed:

Bananasplit Better Cities. It completely overhauls every city in Oblivion, giving it more depth and immersion. I highly recommend that you install this before any other major mods. It will be easier to work around everything.

Here's the link:

I've tried Morroblivion. It's alright, there's just nothing to do besides go on a murderous rampage.

One thing I couldn't do without is Unique Landscapes. Current project release thread is here:
http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1045160

This is a project of individually independent mods which overhauls specific parts of the Cyrodil map. You can pick and choose as many or few as you wish. There is no other contents like quests and included in the mods, just kick-ass environments for you to explore. The quality of the work is awesome and makes trekking through Cyrodil seem like a whole new place. Combine with Better Cities to have an almost complete gameworld overhaul.

Also get Qarl's Texture Pack 3 Redimized (QTP3 Redimized). The upgrade in texture quality from that is astonishing. Make sure to have at least 512 meg graphics card, though.

Well, the best mod I've played so far is The Lost Spires, downloadable on tesnexus.com. It's a whole new storyline, and adds a bunch of new locations, monsters, dungeons, weapons, an Archaeology Guild, a bunch of NPCs, and full voice acting, though the quality of the last is debatable. Overall, though, really excellent. Definitely worth a look.

A minor but very useful mod is Put In Its Place enhanced grabbing. This, most notably, doesn't call psychic guards down on your head every time you pick up an item belonging to an NPC. Instead, they only call the guards if you leave their line of sight with the item, and they actually thank you if you replace an item you've knocked down. It has some other features too, like not having to hold down the grab key to pick things up.

Those are the two best I've encountered so far--check them out.

...uh. No. I'm not interested in trying to assemble, zip, and upload what would likely be at least a two gigabyte file. Google is your friend; you do the legwork.
