To my fellow players of Oblivion:

Most likely, you have met one dark-cloaked individual: Lucien Lechance. He probably came to you after you "killed one person in cold blood". There lies my question. What action were you doing when this message appeared?

[HEADING=2]Your killing has been observed by forces unknown...[/HEADING]

EDIT: Whoops. Forgot to put my own experience. Mine was in the Arena. I finished the "Origin of the Gray Prince" mission, not knowing the Gray Prince would end up with going all depressed and all MGS1 Ninja (as in, "Hurt me more, Snake!") on me. It was counted as murder, which sucked, because I was trying to get that character with a clean criminal record, at least until the main story was over.

EDIT 2: I mean with the character you spent the most time on. Also, say what race you were, if it has any relevance, like an Argonian in a mission that's mostly underwater.

Sorry for all the edits! This is my first topic!

I was actually killing someone for a quest, nothing really evil. Can't remember who it was, though.

You know that fisherman that asks for the slaughter fish scales? Well I killed him after he gave me a terrible reward.

On my recent character I killed the traveling dark elf merchant. You know, the one you have to kill for a later quest in the dark Brotherhood.

I killed the Grey Prince.
It really confused me because I kind of had to kill him.
I then went on to be the best assassin ever.

It depends, since I have many characters. For a time my main character would join via killing Brother Maborel since he dies anyways and his corpse ends up in the same spot anyways. Also the Grand Champion got it for me alot early on.

Self defence, sort of, defence from being reported to guards. Even though they found out anyway...

I was in the thieves guild so wouldn't harm anybody if I didn't need to.

In that quest where you must kill that elf vampire. When he sends you to kill that guy in the cabin in the forest. I charge in ready to kill him as I think he is a vampire. HIs first words to me are something like 'I am not a vampire'. I wasn't paying attention so I just killed him anyway.

Wait, would that 'terrible reward' be that ring that lets you breath underwater?

If so, that's perhaps the most usefull object I've found - lets you hide from guards underwater, for a certain amount of time at least.

This actually happen completely by accident near the end of Shivering Isles. Along with a handful of Dark Seducers I was trying to retake The Fringe from The Knights of Order, and somewhere during the ensuing melee I winged a Seducer in the back of the head with my sword. That was really more of an accident than outright murder to be honest. The Brotherhood's standard are getting kind of lax if they're recruiting me for that.

Well I play as an Argonian. So I don't need a ring that lets me breathe underwater.

Oh... I could see why that would be terrible, since those fish were a nightmare to hunt down and kill.

It started with a Nord Woman...the self proclaimed 'God-Hater' in Skingrad.
And it ended up spawning a tale of self doubt and retribution. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.109200]
(Pardon the shameless plug)

I started a new game, went to imperial city, murdered a beggar in front of the guards and then got arrested. The next day after I got out of jail I was approached by both the Brotherhood and the Thieves guild (this was not my first play through so I knew how to get into both).

I was actually defending myself, I entered a tavern, and a few of the Order of Dagon turned around and started attacking me, so I killed them, and then a while later I was found out for that.

I got scared when I opened and door and since I had my bow out, I killed the person... I kept playing because it was no one important.

I spent too much time fighting the three argonians in that one arena mission, so it counted as murder.
I was confused, but also okay with it.
I was only doing the arena so I could legally murder The Gray Prince, anyway.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I was a Dunmer.
No I will not say Dark Elf
