You should really consider giving those up. They're terrible for you.

Honestly it wasn't till New Vegas that I really really liked Fallout because ...of a variety of things.
Can you tell exactly why? I just thought fallout 3 was a bit better of a game and see New Vegas as a bit of DLC that was good none the less, but not really a seprate game.

And I'm not even going to start my rant of how fucking excited I am for Skyrim just because I don't want my fingers to bleed.... again.

Well Oblivion was the first game many new fans to the elder scrolls series played, also to casual gamers calling the games the 'Elder Scrolls' series might leave them perplexed, but pretty much everyone has heard of Oblivion.

Oh and in response to the guy who sarcastically said those are the people who said Fallout 3 was just oblivion with guns, Fallout 3 gameplay wise (excellent atmosphere and setting aside) WAS just Oblivion with guns. The fighting felt exactly like Oblivion, although instead of duelling with swords you duelled with guns, firing clip after improbable clip into enemies, and it took New Vegas until the guns actually felt real.

Morrowind was the best elder scrolls bethesda have made and i'm hoping Skyrim is more like morrowind then obivion as i felt oblivion held your hand abit too much gameplay wise.

It's just another case of Cowboy Bebop at His Computer (also known as DID NOT DO RESEARCH), I wouldn't worry about it.

I assume the people calling it Oblivion 2 are likely parents or, grandparents who are cool enough to buy the game as a gift but too far out of it to know the actual title. Or care to learn the actual title. It's easy enough to ignore or, failing that, laughing about it.

People like that really annoy me. Another case of this but one I can forgive is The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles. It is not called The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Shivering Isles or Oblivion: Shivering Isles and whive lots of people call it that I don't get angry over it.
Um... all of those seem right to me. It's an expansion to the game known as Oblivion/TES IV/TES IV: Oblivion.

But mostly people just call it Shivering Isles/Bloodmoon/Tribunal/Knights of the Nine/whatever.
Most people I know also just call them Shivering Isles/ Bloodmoon or whatever. I don't really care that much with the expansions it is just people calling Skyrim Oblivion 2 that gets to me.

Calling Skryrim 'oblivion 2' is like calling ''A Game of Thrones IV '' to a ''Dance with Dragons'' just because it's the same style, same author and same series...

Well, I think the "Oblivion Skyrim" thing is a marketing tactic to help people identify Skyrim as a sort of sequel to Oblivion. Believe it or not, there are people who are unaware of the Elder Scrolls series and further back than Oblivion, and if "Oblivion" isn't somewhere in the title, they won't equate the two games at all.

Think of it like Call of Duty. At this point, people just want Modern Warfare, so the official names of the games are Modern Warfare now. They've completely dropped the "Call of Duty" part just because people no longer associate the series with those first few games.

I wouldn't be concerned at all. If you enjoyed Oblivion, or at least liked the look of it, then chances are Skyrim will be a far better experience for you. I think the "Oblivion: Skyrim" is just to accentuate that they have the same game formula; which is a stupid observation when they are blatantly in the same series, and it worked very well in the past.

Think of it more of as an improvement than a replica.

It would be more like calling it A Game of Thrones V.

Oh my.

They should write THE ELDER SCROLLS in bigger font on the box art.
Yeap - not like they've done that already to all their Elder Scrolls games

To be fair, it certainly looks like Oblivion 2. I'm just saying. Bethesda produces a lot of different games, but they basically develop the same formula over and over.
The point is that calling Skyrim "Oblivion 2" is like calling The Empire Strikes Back "A New Hope 2" because it certainly looks a lot like A New Hope. I'm just saying.

Bethesda only made the old terminator games that you mentioned. After that They only made the TES series and Fallout 3. The others you mentioned were published bu Bethesda softworks, but not made by Bethesda Gamestudios.

Specifics why I don't like Fallout 3?
Small gripes: Buggy, Same 3 voices, too easy.

Big Gripes:

Level scaling because it babies you so bloody badly. There's no off limit areas so yes it makes the game more open ended it also allows you to go to ANY area and acquire guns that make things even easier.
I was able to put the game on the hardest mode with the promise to not go into towns and I was still doing extremely well, even with mods to make the game harder. I'm not looking for crushing difficulty, I was just looking for SOME difficulty.

Limited weapon selection. I know this is a minor gripe but it did kind of stand out more when I played New Vegas.

I don't drink them often and Arazona Rx Energy is probably the most mild energy drink you could ever have that actually has good stuff in it, it's just not great to have on an empty stomach. Also I take care of my disabled mom and I needed it to keep up

Hey, should I get Oblivion?

I chose Fallout 3 initially, because I don't really care for the whole fantasy thing, and I loved Fallout.

GotY Oblivion is ridiculously cheap now, so I've been giving it some thought.

And no, I won't just wait for Skyrim, I want to see if I like it first.

Pick up a copy of Oblivion asap. Skyrim is a complete overhaul of oblivion and all it takes from Fallout is lockpicking, a part of its sneaking; and perks EVERY TIME you level up. Which is awesome. Apart from that everything is either massively overhauled from oblivion or new. SO go play Oblivion.

Pay no attention to them. The people who are calling it "Oblivion: Skyrim" are the same people who were calling Fallout 3 "Oblivion with guns". -_-
And the problem with that is...?
