The title says it all, what mythological/religious creature or setting would you like to see more writers write about or take inspiration from.

Mine is kind of a Basic choice, Iblis (No not the shitty sonic villain). He?s pretty much the Islamic Lucifer but he has a different origin. He was once part of a race called the Jinn (Fire creatures and separate from Angels) and was a devout worshiper of god, When God created man he told iblis to bow but he refused to serve mankind seeing himself as superior so he left heaven and Vowed to lead mankind astray. I feel like that would be an interesting shakeup on the devil.

So would you like to see more writers take a crack at.

Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec god of wind and wisdom. Represented as a giant feathered snake, he is very important in Mesoamerican mythology with several myths (from being the god of light, justice, mercy and wind; to being the inventor of books and the calendar, the giver of corn to mankind, and a symbol of death and resurrection). In real life, it's a cause of historical debate about the details of the Aztec Empire downfall in the 16th century (supposedly, Cortez was mistook for Quetzalcoatl by the Aztec Emperor).

Ironically, it appeared in Final Fantasy XV. So, too soon to use it again?

Hydras. Like proper ones. The only games I can think of that has them are Dark Souls and God of War, and neither of them regenerate their heads! That's the most memorable thing about them!

On a side note, can dragons not be a massive part of a fantasy game's lore for once? So sick of them being a key part in tons of franchises, they're like the fantasy equivalent of zombies.

This thing:

I had no idea it existed, and I'd love to see more of it.

Also:
Jinn, like the 'none Disney' kind.
The OG, fucked up, kind.

Akhlut. What's an Akhlut? "In Inuit mythology, Akhlut is an orca spirit that takes the form of a gigantic wolf or a wolf-orca hybrid when on land"

That's about all I know about it, but it sounds like a design I want to see.

Caladrius from Greek mythology. Similar to Phoenix, but snow-white in color and more crane-like. It was said to have immense healing powers.

It'd also be interesting to see non-Christian portrayal of serpents. They're usually beneficial shapeshifters in most mythologies.

Hawaiian mythology has some neat things. Pretty much the only mythology that manages to make sea monsters sound interesting.

Honestly though, I'd be happy with anything that's not there just so the players can kill it. I'm also utterly tired of elves, and of any kind of angel/demon conflicts.

The noble Japanese Butt Monster

Also, while looking this up, i came across something called a Jorogumo, which apparently translated to "whore spider." It reminds me a lot of a certain Dark Soul's boss.

While browsing tvtropes yesterday, I found out about a Japanese yokai called Gashadokuro [http://yokai.com/gashadokuro/]

Basically giant skeletons formed from the bones of those who starved to death who bite your head off to drink your blood. Now that's badass.

I'd also like the Chinese dragon type more, the one that looks more like a serpent than a bat. The most prominent examples I can think of are Spirited Away and arguably Rayquaza in Pok?mon, and even those examples are over a decade old. There's just something majestic about the sight of a serpent slithering through the sky.

Centaurs are often relegated to the sidelines. It'd be nice to see them act as a central element in a story once in a while.

I vote for something from the Malay Archipelago, the Hantu Tetek. It is a spirit that takes the form of a woman with giant gazongas that bludgeons you to death with them once you are alone.

Bunyips. Though stories vary, sometimes they are like Yowies, which are the Australian version of Bigfoot/Yeti/Sasquatch.

But in other stories, the bunyips are large river predators. In more southerly places than those inhabited by actual large river predators.

We need more Jabberwocks, Jersey Devils, and Krampuses. Granted, one of these is a literary creation and another a folk tale, but whatever.

Personally, I like the idea of someone travelling through time and meeting various monsters as believed in by the people of that time, and seeing what's around and what's changed in that respect.

You guys need to play more Shin Megami Tensei. At least half of these are in that series.
