I remember in primary school when we had an IT lesson where we got to put in, save to, then take out...
Floppy discs!

That was one of the most exciting days of my life.
Which is a little sad...

Split-screen multiplayer?

Even older: Split-screen multiplayer for MORE than 2 players?
We play 007:Goldeneye in the lounge at my university residence, and it's so painful when more people want to play... Especially given that our TV is less than 20 inches...

EDIT: Oh, I just remembered. No one has mentioned the good ol' Walkman. Awww yeaaah.

And the Gameboy Pocket was my first games console. It seems to have been forgotten, being in the middle of the classic Gameboy and the Colour.

To be honest, I wouldn't consider cartridge based games obsolete. They're still in use today and do have a few benefits over disc based mediums such as much quicker loading times (close to nil). Although I may agree that they shouldn't be used any longer in consoles, they do have some major benefits in handheld devices such as portability. Gaming devices aside, cartridges are essentially very similar to the extremely common 'SD card' which are very widely used, and I definitely wouldn't call those obsolete.

It has come to my attention that I'm kind of old for this crowd, heh.
They need oldsters like us, if for no other reason than to educate them on the proper use of capital letters in a title.

Sheesh.

I still have two boxes of 5 1/4" games, I won't let my wife throw them out. Sadly I have more c64 games than I do games from 1990 ~ 2008, which is the main reason I've cozied up to Steam.

My wife was watching Band of Brothers the other day and that reminded me of typewriters; guh, what a nightmare for an ADD kid. My dad wrote his master's thesis on the c64.

I'm still blown away by the penetration of LCD monitors, they were so expensive and then they were everywhere. I haven't given my 19" CRT to Goodwill but I will soon.
