So after 5 years or so, today I discovered call of duty 4 modern warfare has cheats in single player. Like filters, infinite ammo, cluster grenades, when you shoot people they turn into a pile of tyres. My favourite being a charlie chaplain style filter that looks like this.

I've had this game for quite a while but I only found this out by chance on the menu today. So my question is has this happened to you, missing something pretty obvious and only finding them a long time afterwards.

Well, I was playing Company of Heroes 2 the other day. I got to mission 4, which involves moving your small bands of troops around in a blizzard and picking off German outposts around Moscow, when I was tasked with seeking out and destroying German tanks that had been abandoned in snow drifts. I planted charges on nine of them and destroyed them, but couldn't find the last tank. It eventually turned out that I hadn't missed the last tank...I'd missed the first, way back near the beginning of the level. In fact, it was right where the engineers had emerged from a hut and informed me of the abandoned tanks that needed demolition. How embarrassing.

Back when I first played the Baldur's Gate series I slogged my sleepy party back to town every time they got fatigued... it took about 20 hours of gameplay before I realized there was a sleep button (inconveniently hidden within another menu) that let you sleep anywhere in the wilderness... it's no wonder I never got far early on.

I didn't realize you could use summons in Kingdom Hearts until I hit Halloween Town. And in Kingdom Hearts 2 I didn't discover the concept of Forms and using the drive gauge until I was near the end of the game. Goes to show how gimmicky all these stuff is. There's nary a challenge you can't overcome without applying your Keyblade to the next dude's head.

I didn't notice you can climb up the rope in WindWaker until the final boss where you have to do it.

I didn't know you could do that, funny thing was, there wasn't one place in the game that I had trouble with due to this.

I didn't realize that the main characters name was Daniel in amnesia the dark descent because I named my profile "Daniel" I for some reason thought it had some sort of super vocalizing software that added the players name into the game. And yes I realize how incredibly stupid that sounds

Carriages in Skyrim. My first playthrough I literally walked to everywhere I needed to go.
HAH! I was in the middle of my second playthrough when I discovered the sprint button.

Also I've played about 15 hourse of planescape torment, before discovering you can quicksave in it.

I was playing Demon's Souls without realizing you could lock onto enemies. My brother-in-law finally showed it to me after I had been playing for days. Game became much easier :)

Years ago in my first playthrough of Final Fantasy 7, I had completely ignored Phoenix Downs until the boss fight in Junon where the bubble trap kept killing me (nice of them to mention that said bubbles could be removed by attacking them with magic /sarcasm).

I didn't know you could Fast Travel in Fallout 3 until I did it by accident once. At the time I thought it was amazing but I kinda wish I hadn't discovered that now - it made me really lazy and I abused the shit out of it :S

I missed about half of the notifications for new powers and moves while playing through Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Made the game much harder than it should have been during the first time through. I still don't know how that happened.

A little less obvious issue of me missing something was in Fallout 3 when I didn't realize you could hot key certain items and weapons. I'm not sure if the game itself ever informed you that it was possible, but I do know I must have missed it when reading the instruction manual while the game installed.

I didn't know you could tongue up.

When I was a kid I didn't know you could strafe in Ratchet and Clank.

I finished AC 3 without realizing it had a guild members component similar to Brotherhood...

On AC4 totally didnt notice there was a heavy shot ability for cannons. Guess it would have made beating those for 5 legendary ships easier. lol.

I never realized Sten was supposed to be a playable character in Dragon Age. To me he was some dude who had slaughtered a bunch of people and deserved what he got. I also never met Leliana...never had occasion to go into that particular bar.
