Police should do their job by pursuing real criminals instead of harassing generally non violent demonstrators.

If anything proves better that occupy movement has a point, it's how police has reacted to them.

Jesus Christ do I hate this phrase with so much passion. I have nothing but the utmost respect the the majority of Australia's police service, and it pisses me off when people blurt out this line. Police officers attend to whatever disturbance or job they are called to, and attempt to resolve it in the most professional manner possible. If they ARE dealing with protests or (in the case where this line is most used, drink-driving or other road-law-enforcement duties), it's because they aren't required for anything more high-profile at the time. "Go chase real criminals"...what the fuck.

Also, these aren't 'non-violent demonstrators', they're a few people who linger around like a bad smell after the protest that had occurred has already made it's point and moved on.

"I'm not to blame, my boss ordered me to do it". This was the excuse the complicent Nazis used after the war. If you were a policeman, and your boss told you to get rid of peaceful protesters doing no harm to anyone, why on earth would you? Luckily, that's not what I see the police in the video doing - they walk away after they see there's no disturbance, and that is something I respect.

Drink-driving is an actual crime. Social protest is not.

And these people are exactly non-violent demonstrators. You might not like them doesn't change that they aren't doing anything wrong.

The Occupy protests in Australia are pretty pointless anyway, it is just a handful of full time activists that are taking part, they will eventually move on when something else comes up. The major moving point behind the protests is the dominance of corporations in politics and income inequality, neither of these are problems in Australia.
Correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't Rupert Murdoch own quite a large percentage of Australian media?

Media can influence political opinion quite a bit.
