Whenever I get 'nightmares' they are often rather lame, and fail to scare me in any way. It's like a cheesy slasher flick in my mind. But last night I had a rather strange one, that had me thinking it was real when I woke up...

The book I'm reading got soaked by my waterbottle in my bag. I kid you not, this is what my mind considers to be a nightmare.

So the inevitable question is: What odd dreams or nightmares have you had?

Ha...

Two days ago, I had this weird dream where I was supposed to be playing this indie horror game. You know like those popular ones from steam. About this creepy little boy in this creepy little place. I don't recall all the details but at some point, it was like I was in the area said creepy monster child was in. And all instincts were telling me I had to go.

So I did. Out of the building, there was a lion digging in some ground for some strange reason. Instinct told me I had to be quick and stealthy. And I was making good progress until I passed up this gazelle corpse. Suddenly, I hear danger music like you hear from a videogame. I turn around and the thing is charging at me.

I hear this voice like text on a screen saying how this is more danger than I've ever been in... And I wake up.

My heart was pounding so hard my chest hurt and I was all kinds of breathless so that was my experience of it feeling real, I suppose.

I had one "nightmare" that occurred twice so far, these were in my childhood so yeah...

I was on a hill, yellow ish grass, pretty high, the environment looked like a game with it's bloom set on high. Suddenly I started running and somehow I knew I was being chased, I never saw it but I could hear the grass crunching behind me and the grunting. For some reason I believed it to be a wolf.

The rest of the nightmare consisted of me doing regular stuff, realize the thing was still chasing me, running, then repeat.

Damage to books is terrifying.

I had a dream that my housemate dumped my favourites books on the floor, poured tea all over them, then set fire to them. When I asked her why, she said they shouldn't have been on the floor. Circular argument ensued, I woke up pretty damn pissed off because I thought it had happened.

Not the first weird 'nightmare' I've had about a housemate. For some reason my subconscious thinks they all want to kill me...

I think I tricked myself into believing that I had a test the next day, that the day before I randomly took of my shirt in class, and my favorite one that I had a long talk while chewing gum with someone I hardly know. That conversation one gives me deja vu all the time because i'm almost 100% positive I've had that conversation before even though it was probably only in my dreams and my dream conversation was probably somewhere completely unrelated to where I know that person from, and yes I'm always chewing gum while having these conversations.

Oh so many weird ones. Highlights include...

-Velma from Scooby Doo leading an alien invasion of Earth

-People breaking into my house and stealing my SNES. Just the console. Not even the cables or the game that was in it.

-Being at a party and having it taken over by the coastguard

-Skipping class. I've actually woken up freaking out because I dreamed (dreamt?) of skipping class.

-Being attacked by a zombie. Not a horde of them, just one. And he wasn't actually attacking me. Just standing there. I could touch his face with my hand and nothing would happen.

-Oversleeping and missing an interview (Not weird as much as meta...)

Once, when I was in kindergarten, I had this dream where everyone in my class, including me and the teachers, were dinosaurs. We had class like normal, but when it was time to go to the library the teachers instead locked us in a room that started filling with water. We all were all scratching and banging on the door begging for them to let us out, but they didn't, and the water filled the room. At that point I was underwater and couldn't breathe. I could see everyone else still scratching at the door crazily before I woke up.

Ever had the one where you show up to a class that you haven't been to all semester and don't know what's going? Those are terrible :(

I have a dreaming group btw... [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-Dreamer-Society]

The oddest nightmare I can remember is the time I was stuck playing an RTS game under gun point and if I didn't destroy Napoleon, the murderer would blow my brains out. That was freaky.

Last night, I dreamt that all my Oreo packets (I always buy at least 32 packets of European Oreos, which taste different from American Oreos, at a a time over the Internet) didn't contain any Oreos. All that was in them was some kind of ripoff of Oreo cookies. They looked exactly like Oreos, except their surface was smooth apart from their name wich was indented on it; in short these cookies were clearly not Oreos. That was a real nightmare.

Standing at Trafalgar Square, there was this sleepy/sick woman approaching me.
Something was very off about her. The way that she stood, the way she was moving, what her face looked like and the style of clothes that she wore in comparison to the surroundings. I told her to stop walking towards me and to get away, but she didn't listen. Given that I knew it was a dream, I decided to take some drastic measure. I ran up, tripped her and tried to smash her head against the concrete floor but I soon figured out why she looked odd.

She was a frozen (cold to the touch), partially decomposed, corpse with a horribly broken neck that refused to be pushed down. In a raspy voice she tried to speak but I couldn't quite understand exactly what she said.

Wasn't particularly scary, as I was more interested/weirded out than anything.

The more realistic/frightening ones always seem to be the worst possible scenarios of situations past.
Being in an old school course and taking a test without knowing any of the answers, taking the wrong/missing the bus, waking up late, doing the wrong thing. Those ones generally get me riled in the dream and when I wake up. The weird/scary ones I enjoy, but not the plausible ones!

Weirdest nightmare I've ever had?
Velma from Scooby Doo chased me through some horrid amalgamation of my 2 highschools and 3 grade schools and then raped me when I got stuck in a corner.
I woke up more violently and with more fear and cold sweat than during my usual nightmares.

I usually have fucking insane nightmares that disturb me for the whole day. But one time I got a package before falling asleep. Inside it was my Fallout 3 collectors edition. (I knew it was because it was the only thing I had ordered that month) I must have fallen in and out of sleep about five times, and everytime I had a dream where it was either broken, the wrong item, or nothing at all inside the box. Gosh that bugged me until I woke up enough to open it.

The closest I've had to a nightmare was when blood just came out of me. It didn't even hurt or anything and it wasn't even scary but there was blood and it was likely hyper realistic. Anything other than that was when I was naked during passing period at my school

Um... in two of my dreams I've ended up murdering people (The 1'st MAY have been self defense, but thinking back to it, i doubt it). The 1'st one i was in a park at night, and i was in a fight with some guy when i grabbed a brick and smashed him round the head with it. I then ran off, and my dream fast forwarded to when i got home, and the murder was being reported on TV.

The second one was scarier because it was actually someone I KNEW that i killed (In the first one, it was a gangster i think). I wont go into details, as it might be a little TOO creepy.

I haven't had a nightmare (I remember) in years, but I've had some whacky dreams. There is still a nightmare I remember from when I was about 5. An alien was going around killing people and it turned out to be my friened. As you can imagine the details are vague after 12 years but I was playing on bumper cars. I also remember having this same nightmare twice. Literally the only time this has ever happened to me.
As for my dreams, I once dreamed I was arrested for walking up to Mitt Romney and slapping him with a fish. Just got jumped on by a load of security guys. I was also in space with my friends one time and they ejected me for farting and been really annoying. On the nightmare vein I have had some apocalypse dreams but they were not scary. Haven't been scared by my dreams for years. If they got too real for me I could physically wake myself up. Man dreams are so complex and confusing.

When I was a kid, I used to try and stay up for as long as I could after my mom had put me to bed, because I was so afraid of having nightmares. I've never been afraid of the dark, but dreams? Shiiiet.

I still dream regularly pretty much every night (or day, I don't let the universe dictate my schedule), but I no longer have what I'd consider nightmares. Some of my dreams are Dead Space/Human Centipede levels of grotesque, but I wake up from them perturbed and perplexed thinking "huh?", and not so much horrified and in cold sweat.

Sometimes, if I've been writing or calculating damage formulas or some other inane shit before going to bed, I go into this state where I'm not quite awake or asleep. I might dream of solving math problems all night, except the problems make absolutely no sense, and I'm perfectly aware of that as I'm doing them. Sometimes I have conversations that I'll know aren't real, or write long-ass forum posts. I can wake up whenever I want (and I'll do so feeling like I haven't had a wink), but that's the only thing I can do to interact with these dreams.

There's probably a name for this, but I have no idea what it might be. Sometimes it lingers for a while after waking up, which feels like my head is filled with static. It's weird.
