Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee HD remake screenshots!! :D

So for a while now, there has been an HD remake of Abe's Oddysee in the works. As far as I know, there hasn't been a confirmed release date.

So anyway, I was on my Facebook when I saw this:

This game was my childhood, and so far, this remake is looking great.

Goddamn, that looks really fine! Abe's Oddysee is the game that turned me into the gamer I am today. I was afraid that current graphics and HD might rob the game of its atmosphere, but this inspires a lot of confidence.

It seems the only games I'm looking forward to these days are HD remakes.

Only got Oddysee/Exoddus on Steam recently (last year), so probably not going to buy them again; might say different to Stranger's Wrath though, been a long time since I played it, very little replay value though.

But yeah, hurray for good things.

It is already confirmed there will be a quicksave function. So there's no need to worry about that.

In related Oddworld news, Stranger's Wrath got its HD release on PC a short while ago and is gorgeous. I believe the PS3/Vita release isn't far off either.

I remember only enjoying the first factory level, because you could make all of the other aliens you were suppose to safe die horribly in some amusing manner. I did not really like these games overall however, because I feel there is WAY too much trial and error.

In fact, I would go as far as calling the Oddworld games (at least the 2D ones) the ultimate trial and error games.

Well I don't know about that. Sure, there is quite a bit of trial and error in the games, but I feel there are worse games in that aspect. I Wanna Be The Guy for example. At least Abe's Exoddus has quicksave.

I recently replayed Oddysee and Exodus again after many years. Still love those games to bits and I think the HD screenshots look great.

The only thing I don't like the sound of is the idea of Oddysee having a save state feature. You needed save states in Exodus because they bumped the difficulty way up on that one. Having save states in Oddysee will just make that game way too easy.

Hallelujah! Praise Him! there is finally some development on the Oddworld series. I can't wait to return to that universe ... This is almost as great as the announcement of a sequel to Stronghold Crusader.

As fun as it is to kill all the Mudokons, it really adds a lot more challenge (and satisfaction) to rescue them all.

i played a demo of it several months ago but i couldnt bring myself to play the $3 for it. it wasnt the graphics i just really wasnt a fan of the gameplay. but this is certainly an improvement, visually. very pretty

saw this a couple of days ago, and it looks awesome! i can't wait to play these games all over again, the graphics of the oldies haven't ages particularly well, and thats putting me off. hd remake gives me the perfect opportunity ^-^

Well, on the other hand, glad they are reviving the Oddword series, at least in a remake way...

On the other hand, FUCK IT. I already replayed both Oddword games in the last year, and I dont have intentions of replaying it yet again. I could have been playing this if it werent for that.


Oh well. Still good news.
