Victor listened closely when the Keidran spoke, knowing that if he didn't he might miss something that he could usually understand. "Company" seemed to be a word she used, and she giggled, which Victor wasn't sure what to make of, but he guessed that it was a good thing.

When the Keidran stood, Victor decided he might as well do the same and see what there was to do, rather than just sit there and try to understand each other by simply saying things at each other. Standing, he gave a small shrug, not exactly sure what to do or where to go at the moment, especially with someone who didn't understand city life at all.

"[Where...go?]" Victor asked, wondering if she perhaps had something in mind to do, or a place that she wanted to see or something. Victor realized that perhaps he needed to start planning out something so that he could keep her out of trouble, and perhaps at the same time teach her something about how the city works.

Not going to the merchant streets for a time, not till I know that she will not be grabbing things off the shelves because that is how she is used to them.

Arryn shrugged back, not entirely sure where to go herself. "[It'd at least be good to look around this place.]" she said, still fairly unsure what he understood and what he didn't. They'd at least need to find someone who could understand them both. She finished the last of the piece of meat that the Basitin had bought for her, then headed off into the city, not entirely making sure whether her current companion was following her or not. She did glance back a few times to make sure, but other than that, she just wanted to look around the city.

Many places she had never seen, aside from the fact that she was seeing the inside of a city for the first time. She unfortunately didn't know what any of them did, or at the very least many of them. She seemed to spot the very, very occasional thing she was familiar with, such as a blacksmith shop where bows and arrows could be made and bought. However, like with the meat, she couldn't just take it, so she decided to leave it be, in case she'd get caught into a similar situation as the butcher stall, and kept looking around her for interesting sights, smells and sounds.

As Victor walked with the Keidran, he realized that perhaps she probably had no idea what she was doing or what she was probably even seeing at this point. So, as he followed, he tried to keep closer step and also was now trying to remember words to describe some of the places that they were passing by.

"[Blacksmith.]" Was simple enough for Victor to say, also pointing out another area and said "[Bar. Drinks there.]" Victor explained as best he could as they walked. He really needed to visit a bookstore or something so that he could perhaps get a few extra words in his vocabulary so he could properly communicate with the girl. Or maybe at least explain things better than two words.

"[Need books. OK?]" Victor said, hoping they could perhaps return to the merchants area to find some books for translation, or at least a library or somewhere he could at least learn how to say a few more things, or understand a few more. However, for the moment the little bit of communication he was doing seemed to be going rather well. While he wasn't exactly sure what to make of how the experience of the city was going over with the Keidran, as when he saw a city he at least know how trade worked. This was...a bit more extreme.

Alistair dedicated himself to finding the least congested routes to the scrivener's shop which was taking much longer than it should, though it wouldn't come as a surprise seeing as nearly all the streets were crowded. At the moment, he was struggling to remember the exact location of the shop for it had been quite some time since he'd visited the city last and his grasp on the lay of the land had been diminished considerably. The mage had begun sifting through his memory, trying to retrace the steps he had taken before, and soon found himself stuck on the new inkwell he intended on purchasing. The image so clear in his mind, he felt he could reach out and touch the polished ebony and delicately trace the designs with his fingertips. Suddenly, his thoughts were broken when he rounded a corner and walked into a passing Keidran that was shorter than he and a taller Basitin. The mage jumped a bit and took a couple steps back, his eyes shifting between the two as he fumbled for something to say.

"Oh, I, uh..." Alistair said. He scratched the back of his neck as his mouth began moving like that of a fish out of water, but eminated no sounds as anxiety overwhelmed him. He paused, taking a deep breath, and it clicked in his mind that they weren't human so he cleared his throat and readied himself to speak up in Keidran.

"[Muh-uh-my apologies,]" he started, his nerves making him stutter. "[I-I'll juh-just be on my way.]" His eyes stopped over the two of them once more before retreating down towards his feet as he begun nervously shuffling around them.

Fascinated by the city, Arryn was taken out of her thoughts when the Basitin mentioned he needed books. This...was unfortunately a word she didn't know. "[Books? Well, if you need them, we might as well go to a place where they can be found. Wherever that might be.]" She understood the importance of being prepared, and if these books he spoke of would help him be prepared for something, she wouldn't hold him back from it. "[Lead on, then.]" she said to him, still not sure why she was saying as much as she was when he didn't seem to know much in Keidran.

While they were walking, a human almost bumped into them. For whatever reason, he seemed nervous and flustered a bit. He apologized to them, though Arryn didn't know for what. She practically had a bit question mark over her head. "[...Well, that was certainly odd.]" she said, more to herself than the Basitin. A thought crossed her mind. "[We haven't been introduced, I just realized. My name is Arryn, a hunter.]" she said to the Basitin. "[Though that might have been obvious by my bow and arrows.]"

After a rather uneventful walk through town Namar walked into the Wreathwood library, in comparison to other cities Wreathwood's library was rather small, and not very well cleaned, there was duston quite a few of the shelves and there were some books which had been left practically untouched for decades, but like all Libraries wreathwood's had it's share of unique books, but of course, the best books weren't available to just borrow, you had to buy them, and even then they were rare, Namar hadn't had much luck finding any he wanted in market, as he walked up to the lines of shelves that filled the room a short man, probably older than sixty, stuck his head out from around a bookshelf.

"Ah, Mr. Crell! we were wondering when you'd be returning." He hurried across the room scratching his head "would you by any chance be returning any books? we have uhh, quite a gap and we've had some enquiries about where they might be..." For a Librarian he was rather loud, though Namar wasn't sure if he was always like that or if it simply had more to do with the empty sections on several of their shelves, either way it didn't change anything, but at least he'd get some good news today.

"I'm finished with the current books i've borrowed, you should know where i'm staying, so feel free to send someone to collect them, in the meantime, i was wondering if you had any of these available?" Namar passed a list to the Librarian who frowned for a moment, though he quickly changed that as Namar gave him an impatient look.

"yes, i think we have these in stock, will you be taking them out or reading here? we would prefer to avoid lending out too many as we have recently."

Namar sighed "I'll be reading them here don't worry, but do tell whoever you send to collect the others that if i find anything missing when i return to my room... well, let's just say that he won't be able to enjoy the bonuses for very long."

"Yes yes yes, give me a few moments and i'll get you your damned books..." The Librarian replied, vanishing into the bookshelves to collect Namar's order, Namar found a table and sat down, he'd hoped that he wouldn't have to wait long, by now he'd already noticed his tail, he assumed it was simply there to watch him, but he was ready fro anything more.

As Victor and the Keidran walked, they had nearly bumped into a somewhat jittery fellow. Victor, however, wasn't taking any chances, and balled up his fists in an instant. However, this quickly changed as the man at first spoke human, and then apparently some Keidran. Tapping on the Keidran's shoulder for a moment, who was apparently saying something with "hunter" and "Lead on". So, Victor decided to lead towards the human who had nearly bumped into them.

"Hey, you!" Victor said, knowing that he would understand. "I hope you are not too busy, but I could use your talents for a quick moment. Keidran and human, right? We are heading to the library, but I could use you along the way. Unless, you are dying or something."

Alright, now THIS might be a sign of fate dealing me a better hand than before. This fellow apparently speaks both better than I could probably do, so lets see if he can clear a few things up. And possibly learn a few tricks as I do so. Hopefully the fellow isn't too jittery to be helpful....and hopefully I'm not wasting my time.

"[Let me stash my gear and make an inquiry, I'll be back shortly.]" Terry said, standing. Gathering his gear he made his way out of the common, and into the hallway that led to the rooms. Unlocking the room he rented before leaving on the caravan job, he deposited his non-essential gear and made his way back.

Heading over to the noisy bar he waved down Bill. "So Terry, wa'cha wants?" The man drawled. "Lookin' for something interesting to do." The Basitin replied. "Heard of anything good?" From most people a question like that would mean they were looking for a show or possibly a 'good time', but Bill knew Terry well enough to know it only meant one thing...he was looking for a fight. He sucked his teeth for a moment while he thought, then smiled. "Why I do think I can help you wi' dat. Seems the Guard busted up some gangs over on the East side, an' now some 'a tha shite they missed has moved here." Readjusting his belt, he went on. "They're run by a great big turd called Xavier Cruz. If they ain't harassin' good honest folk you'll find'em around the docks."

Terry's eyes had narrowed when he heard the name Xavier Cruz. The man and some of his cronies had tried to extort money from him when he'd first come to town, and when Terry didn't pay Cruz stabbed him. "Bill I gotta ask if they're such a problem why hasn't the Guard dealt with them?" He said, fearing the answer. "Well" The barkeep said. "Way I hear it one of 'em has some dirt on a senior Guard officer. The pricks use it to keep the heat off, something about this man and another man's wife." Terry smiled; this was just what he'd hoped to hear. "Well thank you Bill, as usual you've been a wellspring of knowledge." Shaking the man's hand, he palmed him a couple of gold coins for his trouble, before heading back to Borta.

Sitting down he looked at the Keidran. "[So how to you feel 'bout doing a little 'public service'? Seems some local thugs are blackmailing a Guard officer, so they've been having free reign around here. Can't be having that now can we?]"

While Terry had been gone, Borta had taken the opportunity to prepare for any further activities. After dashing up to his room, he had returned to the table with his mace strapped to his hip, the chainmail on beneath his travelling coat and the vanbracer concealed on his left arm.

"[For shame!]" Borta grinned wolfishly, sharp white teeth glinting between his jaws "[I think its our duty as citizens to go and set them on the straight and narrow.]" Standing from his chair, Borta set his feathered cap at a new angle, so it sat almost diagonaly along his head, his one good ear poking out from under it, and the battered, floppy brim concealing his eyes.

"[Anything you need to get or should we be on our way?]"

Borta felt a rush of excitement. It wasn't exactly a heroic last stand, but it was much better than he'd been expecting. And all heroes have to start somewhere.

After a while, Chris stood up from his position and decided to start walking again for he didn't know of anything else to do at the moment. Chris heard his stomach growl and figured that getting something to eat was a good course of action. And so he went off to the marketplace to grab something quick to eat, of which he bought some meat on a stick. After chewing on the tender beef for a few minutes, Chris figured if he walked for a little bit longer, something interesting would happen.

Chris did not really have time to get used to the city layout, so he accidently stumbled back onto the docks. "Aw, man. This stinks." He said to himself. However, before he could turn around and try a different route, a group of four, rough-looking goons came up and surrounded him.

"Looks like you stumbled onto to the wrong part of town, friend." One of them said. "Look, I don't want any trouble fellas," Chris replied. "Neither do we, so I have a proposition for you; give us your money and go free, or we beat the shit out of you and we still take your money."

"Common looters? Really? That's so cliche, can't yall do something different than mug innocent passers-by?" Chris replied in an exaggerated tone. "I guess we're doing this the hard ways boys." The ring-leader said.

Chris pulled out his dagger and got ready for a fight.

Terry and Borta had been winding their way through the dock for awhile now, unable to find Xavier and his 'crew'. "[Well fuck, I thought that ass would easier to fi...]" Terry said rounding a corner. "[Never mind.]" Up ahead it looked like Xavier and three of his boys where in the middle of shaking down a human male. In what seemed to be almost one fluid motion, Terry swung his crossbow off his back, drew it, loaded a bolt, and fired. Letting fly, the armour piercing bolt slammed into the left side of Xavier's head, the tip jutting out above his right ear, killing him instantly.

As their leader fell dead one of the thugs, a Basitin, called out causing five more goon to appear from nearby doorways. Setting his cross bow aside, Terry readied his warhammer. "[Now the fun begins!]" He said with a wink to Borta. Rushing the new arrivals, he charged a Tiger Keidran armed with a crude sword. He parried a sloppy thrust by the Keidran with his chain mailed forearm, knocking the unskilled fighter off balance; with a quick stomp of his foot, Terry caused his opponent to topple to the ground. Cursing and swearing the Tiger tried vainly to get back up, but was stopped cold when Terry slammed the hammer into his chest with a sickening thud.

A twitch of his ears made Terry roll quickly, narrowly avoiding being flattened by a maul swung by an enraged Basitin. "{I'M GONNA KILL YOU!}" He roared, swinging the maul around for another strike. Street fighters, undisciplined, sloppy...not a real threat. Terry thought, as he dodged another obvious swing. Ducking under his opponent's arms and rushing, he drove the short steel spike on the butt end of the handle, into the Basitin's side causing him to scream in pain and fall to his knees. Taking a half step away from his foe, Terry rolled the weapon in his hand before driving the armour piercing point on the back of the hammer into the downed thug's head with full force, crushing his skull.

Borta observed Terry as he smashed his way through his first two opponents. "[Wow.]" He muttered to himself "[He looks like ballad material...]" Then he realised three of the thugs were coming his way. Borta swallowed hard. He hadn't fought properly in a while, and this didn't look like it was going to be a simple sparring match. He felt his hands begin to shake as adrenalin pumped into his veins. An inate sense of bloodlust bubbled inside him, his claws extended...

Stop. Stop. Think. Borta took a deep breath and drew his mace.

Three enemies. Two swords, one spear. Two male humans, one female dog Keidran. His old eyes scanned them, years of observing bar fights and duels had given him the experiance that had kept him alive, and he applied it now.

One of the humans charged ahead of the others. His sword was high, ready for a powerful downwards blow. Borta waited for him to come just close enough...

He was mid-stride when Borta struck. Not with the mace, but with the claws on his left hand. The human dropped his arm, trying to stop the blow with his forearm. But he hadn't counted on Borta's one other skill: Brute strength. His strike continued almost unhindered, slicing along the man's face and spinning him around. The sword fell from his grasp, clattering to the ground.

The other two thugs attacked as one, the spear weilding Keidran circled left, while the human went right. they were trying to surround him, Borta knew, but he didn't mind. They were young. They just saw an old man who'd gotten lucky on their friend. The human was snarling. He was getting angry. In his mind, Borta chuckled: "Advantage: Me!". He looked at the blood on his hand, then down at the whimpering, wounded human it belonged to. He slammed his foot onto the criminal's back and forced him to the floor
"Stay down." He growled, before looking up at the other human "Want join him?"
the human snapped and lunged, blade angled at Borta's stomach. Borta parried the blow, but knocked himself off balance in the process. He knew the Keidran behind him would pounce. It would lead with its left hand and follow with the spear...
So Borta hurled himself backwards. If he was wrong...
He felt his body collide with the dog's in mid air. Her slighter frame gave way to his, and he heard her crash to the ground somewhere behind him. She'd be up and about soon though. The human continued his attack, swinging his wrod at Borta's head. Borta raised his arm and felt the sword connect just below his wrist. There was a clang as it struck the metal bracer. The thug looked momentarily bemused. Then he looked in pain as Borta's mace came up between his legs with all the force he could muster.
Weazing for air, Borta pulled himself to his feet. Blood coated his claws and the sleeve of his coat was ruined. He felt his head.
His hat was till in place.
Borta threw his head back and laughed, a deep, hearty laugh, the kind he used to when he was young
"[Damn I've missed this!!!]"

Chris watched as the two newcomers battled the gang. It seems these fellows use mostly brute force and bloodlust in battle He thought to himself. Chris then saw a human male about to swing his sword into the back of the keidran, and before he could finish the swing, Chris threw his dagger, and it landed in the assailant's back, making him drop his sword and fall to the ground. Chris ran up to the keidran and said, "You might want to keep an eye on your back, friend." while pulling his dagger out of the man's back.

Chris then turned around and saw two more thugs, a keidran with a mace, and a human with a simple broad sword. Both charged simultaneously, hoping to overwhelm him. However, Chris has had experience with two-on-one fighting. He charged the couple himself, and when the gap was about 10 meters, Chris threw his dagger into the human's chest, rolled under the swing of the mace, and pulled the sword out of the human's grasped right before his body hit the ground. Chris turned around to face his final opponent, and saw that the keidran was scared. He charged Chris anyway with his mace over his head, and Chris simply sliced him in the torso. These men had no formal training. Did they really expect to take us on? he wondered.

As quickly as it had started the fight was over, the wounded Human staggering to his feet and fleeing. Dislodging his weapon from the skull of the dead Basitin, Terry went to the Keidran he'd hit with his hammer. The Tiger was laying on his back, gurgling and gasping as blood frothed out of the corners of his mouth. "[Not your day friend]" Terry muttered. Dropping the warhammer back into its hanger on his right, he drew the dagger he kept on left hip, sliding it between the Keidran?s ribs and into his heart. With a sigh the mortally wounded Tiger went limp.

Going to the Human Borta had struck with his mace; he saw a large pool of blood around the man's groin. Damn, the mace must've hit a major blood vessel. Dagger still in hand he repeated the same move before standing. Looking at the Human and Kiedran he shrugged. "Both where gonna die shortly anyways, didn't seem right to make them suffer." Retrieving his crossbow he went to the body of Xavier and hocked a loogie into the dead man's face. "Fuck you asshole, and good riddance." He muttered. Placing a foot on the side of the man?s head he yanked the bolt free, cleaning both it and his dagger on the corpse's grubby clothes.

That done Terry approached the Human with a smile on his face. "Well met friend!" He said, extending a blood flecked hand. "Me and my compatriot over there where actually out looking for this gutter trash, a bit of 'public service' if you will. Anyways the name's Terrance, or Terry if you prefer, and the old fart is Borta."

Borta spun as the dagger caught the human he hadn't seen. This is what happened when he got carried away. He couldn't even count the number of times he'd lost fights for being cocky. Ah well, he doubted he'd have many months left to regret it.

As Terry set about euthanising the wounded, Borta cast a look at the dog Keidran he'd body-slammed. She was winded, and trying to use the spear as a crutch. He looked at her for a moment, then the blood on his hand. Her eyes found his, pain and anger boiled behind them. Borta jerked his head towards a side ally
"[Better get going child.]" he whispered, before walking to join his ally.

When he arrived Terry seemed to be introducing them. He didn't understand the term "old fart" however. Maybe it was a term of respect for an elder?

"Pleased to meet you human!" he smiled, raising his hat to the man so the feather bobbed slightly "And my thanks for helping us for find these criminals. I have been missing good fighting." He glanced at his own attire "And it shows..."

"The pleasure is mine, to both of you." Chris replied while shaking Terry's hand. I guess these fools had it coming to them; do enough evil and death is sure to come a'knocking. Anyway, I don't suppose either of you know where we can wash off. I personally feel a little. . . dirty." He said while sheathing his dagger and wiping his bloody hands onto his shirt.

Alistair froze in place as the Basitin shouted after him, then slowly turned to see if he really was being addressed. He looked all around to see if there may be someone else he was speaking to, but the Basitin was looking directly at him. "T-talents? Wha-uh-what talents could you possibly..." the mage paused briefly before coming back to the mentioning of 'Keidran and Human'. "You mean a-as an interpretor? I-I suppose, uh...I've gotta head to th-the scrivener's shop, so you can travel along with me. I just kinda need to get some things." Alistair was out of his element here and speaking, even briefly, was becoming somewhat of an arduous task.

"Well the guy I skewered in the head was a prick named Xavier Cruz. He and some friends tried to extort money from me when I first got to the city as a youth, and when I didn't back down he stabbed me. As for the others...well if they ran with Cruz they got what they deserved." Terry said, doing one last check of his gear. "C'mon the inn me 'n Borta are at is pretty close. Like you I'd like to get cleaned up before I start to smell like dead thug."

The fact that they weren't searching for anyone meant they made the trip back to the inn in less than half the time. Pushing the door open, Terry marched inside with a triumphant grin on his face. "I see yer back an' smilin'. You must a found 'em." Bill said, seeing the trio. "You pick up a stray as well?" Striding over to the bar, Terry clapped the barkeep on the shoulder. "Yeah, they were muscle some money out'a him too, but 'nuff about that I'd like three hot baths as quick as you can...for obvious reasons." As Bill went off to get the baths ready, Terry made his way back to his new friends. "So, we should have hot baths shortly."

As Chris walked into the inn, he said " So this is the inn you guys are staying at? Looks an awful lot like the one I'm staying at. And the hot bath would be very nice right now." And with, Chris took a seat at the nearest table and offered the other two a seat, "So what brought you two to this city?"

"Yeah, that. Sure sure, you can go do whatever, I got some time to burn, and I don't think she has any worries with it either." Victor said to the mage, noting how he grew increasingly jittery as he turned to address him. He wasn't sure what to make of the guy yet, and knew better than to simply let his guard down. For the moment, however, this would work out nicely as they both went onward.

"Lead the way then, stranger. You seem to be handy enough, and I could use a translator for convenience rather than looking for another one specifically. And maybe you have something to help translate for me personally." Victor continued, nodding to the Keidran as he did so. He came to realize he hadn't even really heard her name, which made things a little...odd.

Hopefully this fellow can help with THAT problem shortly, and I can learn her name and....yeah, no idea what to do after all that. It is a start though, and I think I have this jittery human on board for the time being.
