Dusty was full of questions for Hazel. Maybe she hadn't met many mages in her time. Hazel had come into contact with a fair few herself, but most of them were Academy teachers who charged more for a single lesson than she could earn in six months.

"[Oh? I got the impression that the academy had teachers for most types of magic, but that eh... Most cannot afford them unless they get sponsored by someone, or are wealthy. But you're a mage, and a healer? That sounds exciting, I heard it's really difficult and tedious to learn though, so you must be very good at studying and keeping your head cool then? At least that's what the few mages I've met say are important if you want to be one.]"

"[Hmm... yes, it does require a lot of study, especially if you want to learn the more advanced spells,]" Hazel began, answering each of Dusty's comments in turn. "[In my experience, healing magic can be difficult to get right. Sometimes my spells can leave scars, and sometimes they do not.

"[As for Academy studies, their prices are more than I can afford. I have trouble finding a job that pays well,]" she explained as the three of them entered the establishment. Jarrod led the way to a table, and Hazel followed, careful to account for the sheath on her hip as she settled into a chair herself.

"[What about you, Dusty? Do you do anything interesting?]" Hazel asked, interested in learning more about the Keidran.

After not getting an answer from the wolf Keidran, Arryn sat there with her tail swinging irritatingly. [I would have hoped to talk to someone, especially if they can understand me. And not just that human who's been translating for me and Victor.] She lightly grumbled while she waited for Victor.

Which wasn't all that long of a wait as he came back and sat down beside her. More words of caution from him, as he talked of possible trouble. [Whatever is it that's causing him to be so worried it can't be good.] She'd make her way quickly out of there if need be. For now, she wanted to get back to their room so she could give Alistair her tips on calming down. "[I'd rather not we get into any more trouble than what has happened here.]" she said to Victor in a hushed voice to not attract attention, especially if he seemed worried. She didn't think anyone was listening in on them.

Victor paused for a moment, listening carefully to the hushed tones from Aryn as she expressed a concern of sort about not getting into more trouble. Victor nodded, not knowing quite what else he could say. However, he did have some concerns about what exactly was going on with these guards, and suddenly an odd inspiration struck him. It might be better if he tried to get an understand with Aryn in a more....familiar scenario. At least familiar to him.

"[It's time to learn the city. Come with me.]" Victor said simply, as it was again all he could manage. But perhaps he could learn a few more phrases as they had more discussions. He figured he was picking up the language better as he kept this speaking up. Well, mostly at any rate.

Victor stood, taking a quick look about the room before heading back up the stairs to his and Aryn's room. Opening the door he quickly made his way to the window and pushed it open, taking a quick look around as he did so.

Well, no one is paying attention this evenin. That works perfectly fine for me...and the reach to the rooftops isn't too bad, just a bit of a jump and climb. Here is to hoping that she knows how to do that at least.

Nodding in approval, Victor took a step out on the edge, taking yet another look around to make sure it was completely clear, and then grinned despite himself. Perhaps the night would bring back something a bit more familiar after all, instead of all these odd changes.

Arryn was impressed with how well Victor had talked in Keidran just then, since it had just been bits and pieces from sentences before that. Well, she wasn't going to keep him waiting so she followed him up to their room. She closed the door behind her and walked over to Victor by the window.

There was a decent view from the window, she thought. Though she wasn't sure what it was Victor was thinking of doing. She didn't know what the roofs and buildings were called, or even that the buildings were called buildings, so she wasn't entirely sure what to ask Victor. She stood there, her tail swishing from side to side.

After a moment, she thought to ask him something, at least. "[What are you planning on doing? How will you help me learn the city, as you so said?]" She looked at him with a slight interest in her eyes. He was spending time with her despite not knowing her language well, and now he wanted to help her more. She wanted to see what he'd think up next.

Victor nodded, noting that Arryn was somewhat...confused as to what he was doing. Not surprising, as he imagined she had never done this type of climbing and moving about before. But, he hoped that her forest upbringing had trained her at least to climb somewhat effectively, even if the terrain itself was unfamiliar.

"[We watch guards, and city. Along the high points. Out window, to top.]" Victor said, hoping that the simple explanation made some sense, since he wasn't sure if she understood cities, or building jumping, or anything of the sort.

Not bothering to waste time, and instead figuring she would understand when he actually did what he planned, rather than sit there trying to say something. Victor stood on the edge of the window, and reached up, grabbing hold of whatever hand grips he needed. While he could use his hidden blades to try and climb, his hands found it largely unnecessary and pulled himself up to the rooftops, finding his grin widening as he did so. This was much more familiar territory, and even maybe stalking the guards of the evening would make it even more so.

Gazing over the city of the evening, the torches provided enough light for him to look upon the streets, while the night sky seemed to keep the shadows relatively thick to conceal as necessary.

Well, may tonight be special and simple, because I would rather not jump into something if I don't need to.

Without much worry about having enough rest for the evening, he proceeded along the rooftops, being careful in his steps as he got his 'roof legs' back. Each roof tended to be made differently, but it all turned into the same thing. Keeping balance, and not making any foolish jumps or running if you could help it. Watching as Arryn made her way up the roof, and chuckled. Just like running along the trees, he would say. Gesturing for her to follow, he began to make his way along the rooftops, with Arryn not far behind. He quickly began pointing things out as they went along. "[Guard post]", "[Thieves]", "[Towers]", "[Markets]". All largely simple words for himself, but it helped him show what the city had to offer, got himself incredibly familiar with their surrounds, and perhaps allowed him to pick up a word here or there to make his own language more defined. Victor wasn't too worried about being spotted any more. The streets were generally well lit, but the light never reached the rooftops. Perfect cover, and meant they would be left relatively alone.

Dusty nodded as Hazel answered her questions, it seemed like being a mage was as difficult as she had heard, or at least hard to get completely right most of the time. And the cost for lectures was apparently as steep as what she had heard as well, so it wasn't odd that there weren't that many mages about, you kinda had to have someone willing to teach you, and likely also a bit of money to your name.

Following both Hazel and Jarrod into the establishment she had dined at yesterday she smiled and nodded politely to the owner before settling down into a wooden chair at the same table as both of her companions. She kinda liked the atmosphere of this little tavern, it reminded her of a couple of other roadside establishments she had been to over the years, simple and cozy. Perfect to rest your feet, get warm food in your belly and the chill out of your bones.

"[What about you, Dusty? Do you do anything interesting?]"

She had to stop and think a little about Hazel's question, not that she minded sharing things about herself, but she didn't exactly have a profession, she kinda did what she wanted and traveled where she felt like. "[Well, I don't really have a profession sort of. I just travel from place to place to see what Mekkan has to offer. I'm pretty good at hunting for food and trade, but I don't consider it a job.]" She smiled as her tail swirled in circles behind her. "[I guess you could say that I'm a traveler or wanderer or something. I like seeing new places and the people there, not just hearing about them from others.]"

As Dusty finished talking a young male with an apron similar to the owner came up to their table to take their orders before vanishing back into the kitchen. The conversation between the three of them continued until their meals arrived, and the pace didn't seem to slow down as the meals were finished, Dusty answering a few questions about some of the few places she had been to and receiving answers to a few about magic in return from Hazel, Jarrod occasionally joining in with a remark or two in the conversation.

As the afternoon drew to evening, the three finally got around to showing Jarrod the park near the academy, the trees there were oaks older than the surrounding walls, ash trees with moss growing up their thick trunks, as well as aspen and beech. The area here had been part of the outskirts of the city well over hundred years ago, but had been built around to preserve it for the city folk and the upper classes. They had tried to gain access to the Academy gardens, but had been kindly asked to return another day, as it was currently in use by some of the students, as such the park had to do.

The rest of the day went by quickly, and before long evening turned into night and Dusty found herself back at her inn, the three having parted in the park an hour or so earlier. As she got ready to turn in she felt pleased by the events of today, she had met two very interesting and friendly people, and perhaps she would meet them again tomorrow as well?

Having finished with her breakfast mere moments ago Dusty was sitting idly in her room again, staring out her window down at the street below as she recalled yesterdays events with a smile. Someone shouting down below snapped her out of her stupor momentarily, apparently two humans, laborers by the look of it, having a heated argument with one of the guards, who she gathered was a Basitin, but with the two others in the way it was kinda hard to tell. Still it didn't take long for the argument to cool down as another guardsman, a human this time, stepped in and helped out his colleague. Dusty couldn't make out the words over the noise that all the people going to and fro were making, but she gathered that it had to be a simple misunderstanding from how quick the situation resolved itself.

Rising up from her chair and stretching her back Dusty wondered how she should spend today, usually she just went with the flow and headed where she felt like, but today she thought she'd at least join up with Jarrod and Hazel again, they seemed like good people, and it had been fun being around them so that would definitely be on today's agenda. She started thinking about where to head if she wanted to see the two of them again as she walked over to her bedpost to get her overshirt and boots, maybe the park would be a good place? It was where they had sort of left off yesterday, and Jarrod had wanted to see it, so maybe she'd find him there today? Of course there was always the harbor or the market as well, she was sure that she had seen Jarrod and Hazel down there yesterday so maybe they frequented the area?

In the end she settled on heading to the park first and then having a look at the market and the harbor if they weren't around, and with that out of the way and her clothes on she turned and headed towards the door, intent on starting her search. Something in the corner of her eye made her stop though, her bow propped up against the foot of the bed, her archery glove and chestguard hanging over the bedpost next to it. She stopped to think for a moment, she hadn't really needed her bow much since she came to the city a few days ago, but if she didn't find Jarrod or Hazel today she might head outside the walls for a bit, and the bow would be nice if she spotted some game out there.

Eventually she donned her protective gear and slung the bow over her shoulder, there wasn't any guarantee that she would find Jarrod or Hazel after all, might as well bring it with her.

Katja was mulling over the job offer the guards had been talking about yesterday as she sat sharpening her sword with a simple whetstone. Her sword was old with a fair few notches from her training days and a few uneven lines in the metal as a result from previous sharpening from an inexperienced hand. It certainly wasn't a work of art, even back when it was brand new, but it still held a special kind of reverence from Katja, like her master's halberd had for him. As she kept on sharpening the blade her thoughts derailed from thinking about the job and she started to recall her master, the visage of the old Basitin in his travelers garb, halberd in hand and satchel at his side, fur going light as snow and his good eye always expressing joy and marvel wherever they went. A venerable warrior that still seemed like he was going to keep walking for all eternity, at least that was the feeling that she had gotten from him once, but that hardly mattered anymore.

Putting the whetstone aside and sheathing the blade, she headed over to the window and wiped the sun's glare from her eyes as she focused on one of the guardsmen further down the road, the job, yes. She didn't really have much of a reason for refusing to help the guard, and there was money in it for her too, and things would admittedly be a little easier with a few more coins to her name, and it wasn't like opportunities like these were plentiful. Picking up her pack and retrieving a small pouch that held her remaining money she opened it and counted the contents, again in favor of the job, seemed like that was the way this was going to happen. Retrieving just enough money for a couple of quick errands, she packed away the rest and retrieved a fresh change of clothes, it had been a while since she was last in a proper city and she was going to make the best of it, first was to head to proper bath establishment, preferably a Basitin one, but she was by no means picky at this point.

Gathering the things she needed she locked her room and headed out, briefly asking for directions from one of the inn's workers before heading towards the bathhouse.

Borta woke feeling completely refreshed. After the blur of activity the previous night, a good sleep had done his old bones a world of good. Splashing cold water on his face froma nearby basin, Borta tried to recall the night's events. He assumed the ale he'd drunk was significantly stronger than he was used to. It made sense, his Keidran constitution normally meant alcohol knocked him out cold, but after years of playing in bars and taverns... well, you just got used to it. Borta resolved to apologise to the companions he'd zoned out on, and slunk down the stairs for breakfast. He was pleasantly suprised to find his belt pouch was now full of coins again, evidently he must have played his lute at some point in the evening.

The old wolf sighed in annoyance. He really didn't have enough time left to waste an evening's worth of memories like that. He had a vague recollection about...the town watch? Something important. He was pretty sure someone else had been around when it happened, so Borta resolved to sit in a corner and wait for anyone else he knew.

The remainder of Hazel's evening had been more or less uneventful, after she, Jarrod and Dusty had parted ways. She'd checked into her usual place, sat down with a drink and a light meal, and retired soon afterward. There had been a mention from the innkeeper of some people wanting some entertainment, but Hazel had passed up the opportunity. She'd had enough 'excitement' for the day, what with the incident at the docks and all.

Once morning rolled around, the mage got up, breakfasted and cleaned herself up a bit before making her way out of the inn. She wasn't wearing her cloak today: the weather was too good to do so. Briefly she wondered where to go and what to do... it was a little early to go pestering people for work. That would come later in the day, roughly mid-morning -

Hazel's inner thoughts were disrupted by a small hand sliding into her pocket. She shot out a hand and caught the would-be thief by his ear: it was a human boy, taking to thieving to get by. "Ow! Lemme go!" The kid tossed the silver coin he had swiped back at Hazel, who caught it with her free hand and gave him a condescending look. "Give me a reason why I shouldn't report you to the guard, kiddo."

The thief squirmed free of Hazel's grip on his ear, stuck his tongue out at her and ran off. Mildly annoyed by his behaviour, she didn't bother to chase him: he'd returned the coin he'd tried to steal. Instead, Hazel made a note to secure her possessions a little better. Preferably sooner rather than later. I could deal with it back in my room... nah. It's too nice a day. A little cheerier after that particular thought, Hazel began to head over to the park that she had visited with the others yesterday. That would be a good place to deal with what needed to be done.

The son shown on Chris's face through the window of his inn room. After some squirming, he finally sat up, but was quickly disoriented from a throbbing headache. Ah, what the hell happened in the past few days? Chris thought while holding his forehead. He rubbed his eyes, and slowly got up from the bed, taking care not to fall back down. He put on his garbs, and headed downstairs, and out the inn's front door. As he walked out, he had to hold his hand over his eyes to shield him from the son. Damn, did someone poison my drink?

Chris then heard a loud growl coming from his stomach, indicating that he was very hungry. He wondered if the inn was still serving breakfast and quickly walked back inside. Thankfully, they were, and he went to grab himself a plate. Chris walked passed the innkeeper who was slightly surprised to see him. "So you're finally awake, eh?" the innkeeper said in a quizzical tone. "What do you mean by finally awake?" Chris replied.

"Well, you stumbled in here the night before, an' didn't say a word to nobody, an' went straight to yer room."

"I was asleep for a whole day?! God, no wonder I'm so hungry and now I really want to know what happened."

"Huh, you won't be able to figure out mysteries on an empty stomach, get yourself some breakfast first, before heading off."

"Ya, thanks for the info." And so Chris got himself a plate of food and started looking for a place to sit. He saw that a seat was open next to the keidran he met a few days ago. "Hello, Borta. Is this seat taken?" Chris said motioning towards the chair with his elbows.

Borta glanced up at the human, trying to put a name to the face. The past couple of days had been a bit of a blur...Borta decided to play it safe, manners cost you nothing and being friendly earned you intrest. Borta smiled at the man and nodded to the seat

"You're most welcome" he nodded, scooting his chair to the side to give him more room. As the man sat down, Borta tried as subtly as he could to place who he was. A vague recollection loomed out of the back of his mind...Damn that strong ale! C... Chi...K? No, that wasn't right. Crystal? Why would he be called that? Nevermind, it'd come to him.

"How've you been friend?" He began, nodding to a bar-maid who he'd spoken to when he'd first arrived. The smell of the man's food had tipped Borta's empty stomach over the edge and as the young woman scurried away, an animalistic growl rumbled out from Borta's protesting belly. He grinned sheepishly at his eating companion

"My sorry, I have more hunger than I realised."

The streets outside were as crowded as ever, even with most of the morning rush subsided there were still many people out on different errands. Not that Dusty particularly minded their presence, it was a welcome break from the quiet and empty roads that she usually found herself traveling after all. She nodded cheerfully to a merchant in passing, noting the wares on display at his little roadside stand as she continued walking. It seemed like he was mostly trying to sell clothes and shoes, though the roadside didn't seem like the best place for customers for those kinds of goods, but she guessed that not everyone could afford to set up shop in one of the markets. She would try to remember him though, not that many merchants carried shoes and boots tailored for Keidran, and she thought she had seen a pair out on display. It might have been something else though, as not that many Keidran preferred covering their feet with leather it seemed like a niche item. Her own boots had been tailor made quite some time ago, and even then the shoemaker had taken some time to get them right due to a lack of practice. Overall it seemed like more of a Human or Basitin thing.

She started to forget about the merchant a few streets back as the canopies of not quite so distant trees began to appear behind the next row of houses. And her walk soon developed into a brisk pace as the street began to clear of people. Apparently the park wasn't a very attractive spot this early in the morning. Well, with most people off working it wasn't exactly difficult to figure out why. Her tail twirling behind her in the slight breeze, she wondered if maybe Hazel or Jarrod were already at the park. She didn't think so, they hadn't exactly agreed to meet up again anywhere specifically today after all, but this was a pretty likely spot to find them none the less.

Arriving at the edge of the park area, Dusty's hurried pace finally slowed down again as she walked in. Surrounded by tall trees and green vegetation it hardly seemed like she needed to hurry anywhere. Besides, she had kinda arrived at her destination, despite the fact that she had yet to see either Jarrod or Hazel. Deciding that she might as well take it easy exploring here she settled into a leisurely pace, while the grass rustled beneath her and the slight bit of wind made the leaves above dance in patterns of light and darker green. It took several tens of minutes for Dusty to realize that she didn't exactly know where in the park that her new-found friends might enter, or leave for that matter. She looked around, there had to be some easier way of finding them, or letting them find her.

It was first when she adjusted the bow slung over her shoulder that she realized the easiest way of accomplishing this. She could just climb a tree. She did it all the time when she was out hunting to gain a better vantage point, it would probably work just as well here. She strode over to one of the older trees, its trunk slightly gnarled with a fair few good handholds spanning the length of it before starting her climb. A stray thought came to her as she buried her claws into the bark underfoot and reached out for the next handhold. Wondering if she might perhaps get into trouble with the guard by doing this. The guards didn't exactly like people climbing on houses and buildings for no good reason, she knew that. But then again, she was also pretty sure that they didn't really mind when it came to trees in the park. Besides, she hadn't exactly spotted any guards here yet, so they probably had better things to do than patrol the park area.

A few minutes later and Dusty had managed to climb onto some of the higher branches, stopping just short of the canopy becoming too dense to properly see out of. It still offered her a good view of her immediate surroundings despite her being only partway up the tree, she reckoned she'd have a good chance of spotting her friends from here. Now she just had to wait, and if she didn't see them in about half an hour or so she'd have another look around just in case.

Returning to the inn from her brief trip to the bathhouse, Katja felt like it had been a renewing experience. Despite her fur still being a little bit damp from her bath it had been totally worth such a minor annoyance. Walking past the common room she noticed a few of the other patrons that had been part of the occurrence yesterday, though she didn't exactly feel the need to interact with them. To her they had merely been strangers working together in what had appeared to be an emergency, now that it was over they were once again strangers. Taking her eyes off the human and the old wolf Keidran she nodded in greeting to the innkeeper before heading up to her room. She had to get her supplies in order for the job today and dry off completely.

Heading up the stairs and into her quarters, she locked the door behind her before taking off her clothes, it was the simplest way to get completely dry after all. Besides, she doubted that anyone would bother climbing up to the second floor here to look inside her window in particular. The entire scenario just seemed ridiculous to her. Hanging her clothes up to get rid of the slight moisture they had absorbed she turned her attention towards her equipment again. Going over the sword with a whetstone once more and checking the quiver for any damaged arrows. If this job was something the guard needed help with it was likely to be dangerous, or at least that was what her logic led her to believe, and as such she had to be sure everything was in peak condition beforehand.

Noticing a sheet of paper poking out of the corner of her pack she retrieved it and went over the information on the flyer, or wanted poster as it turned out to be. Staring back at her from the piece of rough paper was a person that had been outlined with a crude charcoal pencil. Some criminal that was wanted for several crimes by now, with a substantial reward, though it was a bit difficult to make out since the charcoal had been badly smudged. Come to think of it, she didn't even recall the name that the crier that had handed them out had been shouting. It had happened during her first few hours in the city yesterday when she had still been pretty disoriented. But it didn't matter much, it wasn't any of her concern she decided as she lay down the flier in the windowsill. If it proved even remotely related to the guard job they would be briefed about it, until then there was nothing to gain from going over vague memories.

Getting everything ready she estimated that she'd need about twenty or so minutes to dry completely, and then she just had to head over to the market for the job. She found herself wondering if anybody else of those that had assembled yesterday would apply as well. But thinking back to the ragtag band that had been assembled in the inn's backroom she found it doubtful. Most of the people there had looked like the kind that the guard would sooner chase down than employ, so she reckoned they would just ignore it. But then again, some might find the pay too much to resist, she didn't know. Only time would tell.

Alistair sat on the windowsill of the empty room at the inn, a small vial of water in one hand and another, much larger, pyramidal vial full of a greenish powder in the other. Very carefully, and very slowly, he tipped the larger of the vials and poured some of the powder into the water. Immediately, the water began to fizzle and evaporate, creating what the mage liked to refer to as 'Mist of Minthe'. While the mixture was at work, he set down the vial of powder and corked it shortly before bringing the misting formula right under his nose. With a deep inward breath through his nostrils and a heavy sigh of great relief, Alistair had already begun to feel his sinuses and throat clearing of the mucus that was being brought on by an approaching illness. It was another reason to detest being in a city, where any number of people could be affected by another's careless fit of coughing and sneezing. The mage cursed fate that he had to be the hapless victim of such a thing, but he was fortunate enough to have concocted himself a remedy.

As the mage was biding his time, tending to his ailments, a thought had occurred to him, the memory of that strange meeting with the guards. They spoke of needing hands for hire, though they weren't very clear on exactly what for, just that there was work to be had. And with it, coin. While having money allowed Alistair the occasional luxury, it didn't interest nearly as much as the potential to have his slate wiped clean in that city. He suspected it wouldn't nearly be as easy as he'd have liked, though he wouldn't let that dissuade him in the least, for there was hope.

While in the midst of another deep whiff of the mist coming from the vial, a rather frantic tree sparrow flitted from a neighboring window sill and darted right past Alistair's ear. He nearly leapt from his seat, though while he fell to the room's floor with a loud gasp and a thump, his vial had escaped his grasp and shattered on the road below. At the sound of the glass breaking, the mage sprang to his feet and peered down through the window. His eyes narrowed in frustration as he could see the shards of his vial scattered in the puddle of the green mixture that was quickly being absorbed by the dirt. Just as he was about to prepare more of the mixture, his attention was caught by a crow that swooped down to investigate the spill, hoping to find scraps most likely. However, all it managed to find was a scent that was far too strong for its own senses. The bird hopped back, its wings spasming though providing no lift, and it tottered headfirst into a large wooden crate before falling unconscious to the dirt.

Alistair casually brought himself back through the window and closed it, relying solely on hope that no one had seen the incident or would be smart enough to piece the scene together and bring attention to him. The last thing he needed was the guards, or anyone for that matter, investigating him. He quickly began tidying up the room and packing up his belongings, quietly muttering to himself, "Perhaps now is a good time to look into that job offer..."

Victor slowly arched an eye open, the long evening that he had enjoyed now behind him. As he gathered himself and his surroundings, he couldn't help but find himself looking at Arryn...again. She had decided that the best way to sleep through the night as insisting on sleeping on the floor...without any clothes on, blankets, or anything else. While Victor had some experience with Keidran, and their....different ways of going about things, he still felt slightly uncomfortable with a companion who insisted on doing such things. Especially through the night on the floor. He had tried insisting that she take a blanket or something, but she shrugged him off, and simply slept. Though, he was happy that the evening had been...fun, was all he could call it. While he wasn't sure if his lessons of what things were had made much of an impact, she had been assisting him learn a few additional terms and phrases...which made communication slightly more smooth. If just slightly.

Rising from the bed, Victor stretched, letting out a sigh as he did so. While he was not completely covered, he at least had something to cover himself, and the bandages and coverings about himself proved well enough to the task. He reached for a few his additional clothing and armors, and slipped it back on, strapping and clicking everything back into place. He continued to try his best to ignore Arryn, which was a task in itself since there wasn't exactly much room, and he dared not open the window. So, for now he would have to deal with his...awkward roommate, and wait till she awoke and got dressed before he went out and about. While he had done his best to show her the city, he wasn't sure if she could find her way about, nor if it would be a good idea to let her wander about alone.

Halfway sounds like I'm going soft at this rate. But a partner in travels would be a nice change of pace. Besides...I need a new challenge rather than killing fools who cross the wrong people. Which reminds me...

He realized that the guards had asked for those with...differing sets of skills to go see about some work that needed to be done. While he wasn't the most keen on working with or through the guards on any kind of assignment, he imagined the odd circumstances might be a sign of a different kind of deal and job, meaning that his skills might be more appreciated than tossed in a jail cell for.

The night before had been fun, wandering around rooftops with Victor. While they hadn't communicated much, they hadn't really needed to. The night had looked lovely, she'd thought. After some time of that, they'd returned to their room, both quite tired. Arryn had stripped her sweater and pants off of herself since she didn't want to wear them during the night. It was the first chance she had to not wear them since she entered the town and she'd use it. And while Victor had offered her something to cover herself with while sleeping, she refused as the temperature inside the room along with her fur was enough to keep her warm during the night.

There hadn't been anything of note that happened in her dreams, although a slight homesickness made her dream of her group. While she missed them, she had wanted to see more of the world so some homesickness would be understandable. When she woke up, she'd forgotten about the dream. Slowly opening her eyes, she sat up and stretched her arms and feet, noticing that Victor was awake. "[Good morning.]" she said to him as she stood up to stretch some more, stretching her arms up and standing on her toes to stretch even further. She did a few more stretches before she picked up her sword, bow and quiver and put them all on. She picked up her sweater and pants and put them in a small knapsack strapped to the belt of her sheath. Feeling ready to go, she stepped towards Victor. "[I'm hungry and I want to see what's available.]"

"That's quite alright, I'm hungry as hell as well." After taking a few bites of his breakfast, however, Chris started wondering what happened in his absence, "Hey friend, I seemed to have slept through a whole day and I was wondering if you could fill me in on anything of importance that happened?" Chris didn't know if Borta was the best source, but it was his only at the time being, and he had to start piecing the past day back together somewhere.

["Good morning, Arryn. I....trust you slept well...?"] Victor paused, noting that Arryn had put her clothes away rather than put them on. While at first this only made him somewhat uncomfortable in the private room, it was when she took a step closer that he wished he could take a step somewhere else. He steeled himself a moment before deciding to address the now interesting condition he had gotten himself into.

["Er....ah.....You will....want clothes on....Attracts attention otherwise. Don't...want that."] Victor said slowly, trying his best to not look Arryn over as she stood relatively close to him. The distance was...personal, with her wearing nothing but her selected weapons being merely arms length away from himself was a change that he could not simply ignore. Especially as they had wandered about in the last evening. His thoughts for a moment drifted to earlier lessons that he had done his best to try and forget about Keidran stories he had heard from his parents about how close they could get in a short time, and that all sorts of...odd things came from them. He shook those particular thoughts aside. Now was not the time to make a fool of himself. Even if it was....incredibly uncomfortable.

"...I was wondering if you could fill me in on anything of importance that happened?"

Borta tapped his teth as he racked his brain for any memory of the past evening, but ended up drawing a more or less total blank. All of a sudden, it clicked in the back of his head: Faces, fights, food...everything of importance.

"Ah you know, I'm not altogether certain on some of the laster details, but in the early eveningthere were...let me see...two fights, several new arrivals, and unplanned surgery attempt and many people fighting tongue problems."

He grinned broadly at his companion "I know, you missed a much!"

At that moment, his food was brought over: a raw slice of meat and a few sausages so fresh the pig might not have noticed their absence yet. The old wolf refrined from devouering the food there and then, pacing himself for the sake of decency. A few bites later he elected to continue the conversation:

"So what brngs you to this fine city? Family? Work?"

Her fur having dried to the point where it no longer felt uncomfortable, Katja had gone about her normal routine to get ready for the day ahead. Her hair was roughly combed and braided to keep it out of the way and the end tied up with a spare piece of unassuming cloth. What followed was pretty much the standard morning ritual of any self-respecting Basitin, namely wrapping up one's feet and the base of the tail with bandages. While she was wrapping her feet she wondered if she should perhaps invest in a pair of shoes or boots one of these days, but that would have to wait for now. Having finished with the bandages she walked over to the clothes that she had put up to dry a while ago. Feeling the cloth of her shirt, Katja found that the fabric was once again suitably dry, and with a contented nod she pulled them down and put them on along with her other clothes.

Thus dressed and ready for the day ahead no matter what hardships this job might entail, she grabbed her weapons and fastened scabbard on her makeshift belt before slinging the quiver and bow over her shoulder. Her satchel and her other things were left behind in the relative safety of her quarters as she locked the door behind her once again before heading out. Walking down the stairs to the common room, the creaking of the worn boards the only thing announcing her arrival, she was greeted by the face of one of the innkeeper's daughters.

"Heading out? Would you like me to take care of your room while you're gone?" She asked relatively politely as she tried to remember which room the Keidran in front of her was staying in. "Your room is the second door to the left if I remember correctly, Laskari, right?"

Katja nodded in acknowledgement to her name and was just about to decline the offer of having her room cleaned when the young woman nodded as well. "Good, then I'll see about getting the room cleaned up before mid-day. Have a nice trip." And off she went, again before Katja had managed to add anything to the conversation. Maybe she would have to become a bit more vocal while she was here in the city, far too many people seemed to take silence as acceptance here. Still, having her room cleaned was far from the most horrid of consequences, she saw no reason to spend time correcting the misunderstanding, she had more important work.

Walking towards the door she saw that the old wolf from yesterday was still sitting there talking to a human, from the few words she picked up in passing it seemed like they were just having a normal conversation. She sighed, seemed like the events of yesterday would be willingly forgotten by most, just as she thought. Pulling her windscarf over her muzzle as she continued walking towards the front door another memory from yesterday seemed to hit her, or rather the absence of one. Now that she thought about it she couldn't recall seeing either the human or the old wolf in the back room with the guards, and the wolf had appeared a bit... Inebriated later in the evening if she remembered correctly.

Stopping just short of the wooden front door, her hand almost extended towards the handle, she mentally debated telling them about the job offer. On one hand the guard had asked them not to spread the information about to everyone to keep away 'undeserving applicants'. On the other hand the offer was to be extended to mercenaries, sell swords, and others that the guard needed help from, and these two seemed able bodied after all. Retracting her hand back into her cloak she turned around and headed, not for the table with the two conversing patrons, but to the counter where Bill the innkeeper was busy stifling a yawn.

"Do you have a piece of paper and something to write with?" She asked as Bill turned his attention towards her. "I will of course compensate you accordingly." She added as she withdrew a silver piece, a bit steep for some paper and a piece of charcoal, but better than stopping to count out bronze pieces. The sum did however make Bill produce some paper and a charcoal pencil for her from behind his counter, letting Katja write down a simple message in the human tongue before folding up the note and handing the pencil back to Bill with a quick nod of thanks.

Work to be had, work type uncertain.
City guard is the employer, meet at eastern market guard post.
Please do not spread information further.
This time she walked to the door again, making only a short detour over to Borta and the human's table to drop off the folded note before disappearing out the door. The message would serve it's purpose if they were inclined to help, if not she was confident that she hadn't spread too much of the guards information, as long as they kept the note between the two of them. Ah well, at least it was better than just saying it out loud for everyone to hear.

Looking around at the intersection just east of the inn, she wondered how she was supposed to find the eastern market, but she guessed she could ask for directions the next time she met a guard patrol.

Arryn pouted when Victor asked her to put her clothes on before they'd go downstairs. "[Ugh, not you too. Just like those guards yesterday. I don't see why I need to wear clothes. I'm much more comfortable like this, but fine...]" She grumbled as she walked over to the bed, took off her belt, bow and quiver and put them all on the bed. She opened the knapsack and took out her clothes again, then put them on, still miffed.

Once she was dressed, she put on her belt, bow and quiver again and again walked over to Victor. "[Is this good? Can we go now to eat? Because I'm still hungry.]" she said annoyed to Victor. Her arms were crossed under her chest and her expression wasn't the happiest, while her tail swished slowly from side to side. Her hair, however, was all over the place after she'd slept and hadn't done anything to straighten it.

Victor couldn't help but shake his head as Arryn pouted, showing both her Keidran blood and her relative inexperience. Though, she did at least step away and got dressed, meaning he could at least feel slightly more comfortable in the room once more. She did continue to complain about them the entire time though, and seemed to think that there was some kind of conspiracy about her wearing clothes that she wasn't aware about. But, at least she was dressed now.

["Clothes for other people, not own comfort."] Victor said, wearing half a smile as she hastily tossed on the clothes. ["People not want to see everything. Not how city is. Look fine now though."] As he made his way to the door, he came to a realization that he had no idea what she would even have for breakfast in the day. Would eggs and ham be suitable? Perhaps flapjacks? Was there something else?

["What to eat? Many choices, and going places later."]
