Is it just me, or wouldn't it be cool if you can travel to one of the most uncharted provinces in Tamriel. If Bethesda made a DLC or perhaps a elder scroll 6 based in this province, Id probably become the happiest elder scroll fan ever! lol (even though Iv only played Skyrim and a little bit of Oblivion). And speaking of DLCs I found this video on you tube that suggest this may be possible.

Its funny, in a way I agree with you because I think Black Marsh would be a wildly different setting from most o the things we've so far, especially Skyrim and Oblivion. On the other hand though I've always found the Argonian race uninteresting and off-putting in the context of the games. I dont know, for whatever reason they are one of the last races I would want to play. Even their lore seem uninteresting.

I think that for example Valenwood would make for a more compelling DLC. They live in cities composed of moving trees! The Argonians just have a bunch of canals and stuff.

I might be completely wrong though, who knows.

Black Marsh has no mythological importance, and is neither in the hands of the Aldmeri Dominio, or the Empire.

In short, there is no reason to go there, and a game set there would be rather boring.

The argonians actually travel via giant underground worm creatures.

They sit in the worms digestive tract, because its so slow one could live in it for months, and let the worms take them places.

Haha, alright, that does sound pretty cool. I still stand by the fact that the wood elves are even cooler though.

I suppose your right, but being so....mysterious as it is. That alone could make it a interesting place to visit and perhaps pull off some quests while your there. Idk just my little thoughts on things I guess lol

However as what many people have stated the only people able to go to Black Marsh are Argonians themselves and whatever magician that has some sort of disease repellent spells.
Because Black Marsh is basically a plague of nasty bacteria.

Hammerfell would be quite a really interesting setting, they have not done desert environments yet in the series so i think it will be good aesthetic change. Not only in the physical environment but the appearance of buildings, peoples clothes weapons and armour- I mean curved swords- curved swords! The whole thing will feel radically different to the Elder Scrolls games gone previously.

It would be also really interesting if they could bring in some Arabic folklore as well- it will add further to the originality.

I'd prefer the next game just have the whole southern part of the continent( Elswer, Black Marsh, Valenwood, and Summerset Isle). As big as skyrim was it could be done and it would open up alot more possibilities.

A good dlc for this would being able to go to notjapan(couldn't remember the name)

How does Skyrim being 16 square miles, the same size as Oblivion, make doing what would amount to three times that size possible?

Also you are thinking of akavir.

This is hammerfell in a nutshell

Also, the redguards one had the ability tu split atoms with swords spawned from their minds. So pretty badass.

And they did Hammerfell in Daggerfall. So desert environments aren't new. Not to mention that Morrowind had the desert ashlands.

I would love it if the next entry in TES was Blackmarsh. It would have to be a prequel though, so you could play as a Shadowscale.

Lore wise, how big are these provinces supposed to be?
IIRC, no one is 100% sure on the size of Tamirel, though most estimates Ive heard place it as Africa sized.

The manual for TES1 Arena says its 12million square kilometers, but most people have dismissed that size.

Well that could be one of the plotlines is other races created some magic or suits that let them traverse the Black Marsh and part of the story could be how the Argonians and invaders and/or ambassadors deal with each other. Or a plague is spreading out from the Black Marsh and you have to find a way to stop/cure it, which could include border territories. Though I'll admit creative storytelling isn't my strong suit, but the location is workable. Don't the TES games take place years after one another? So there could be new developments.

Though I don't play it for the story, I want to explore interesting areas and the Black Marsh and Elswyer are the most interesting to me.

I think I'm the only one who wants to visit Orsinium.

Orc strongholds in Skyrim were my favorite places, I'd venture in with my Imperial and go native pretending i was in a fantasy dances with wolves orsimer style.

so no i don't want to go to black marsh.

Orsinium is a City province within High Rock the homeland of the Bretons so if we do go there it will be in a DLC.

I think it could be pretty cool. Black Marsh took over the bulk of Morrowind, and is as big a political player as Hammerfell in the 4th era.
As the setting for an entire game, swamps would get repetitive, but since Black Marsh and Elseweyr are relatively small provinces, they could always do both of them in one game. Put in that little bit of Cyrodiil between them as the one bit of normalcy in between the weird alien worlds.

Elder Scrolls Arena-Oblivion (1-4) take place within roughly the same 30-ish year span. Skyrim did a 200 year time jump because with the emperor dead, a lot of stuff changed and they felt it was best to let that happen without player interference.

No they did not.

The Argonians only raided most of Morrowind, but the Dunmer still control Mournhold, and all lands north of it. Many Dunmer even mention going back to Mournhold in Skyrim, and the Greg Keyes novels, Infernal City, and Lord of Souls, specifically say the Argonians only took back the southern swamplands of Morrowind that traditionally belonged to Black Marsh.

Here's a map of Morroiwnd, with Mournhold marked. You can see how little the Argonians control of Morrowind. Their area of influence pretty much stops at Narsis.

ahh you're right about the size i misremembered the map. But Skyrim is about the size of Elsweyr and Valenwood put together with some more to spare.
