Oh crap what have I done?!

I had a thought... I wonder how many people bought a console because of anticipation for one particular game on it, to find that the game was actually crap! Hence the reaction "oh crap... I just spent hundreds on this console!!"

In my case, it was the end of 2006, I bought an Xbox 360 for "Next Gen" Sonic the Hedgehog. At the time let's face it. It didn't have much going for it besides Gears of War. I was majorly pissed off at how bad Sonic was. I actually enjoyed Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog, and actually believed this new one would be good.

I kept the 360 in the end, and now have a library of decent games... and Sonic Unleashed. >.< (stupid night levels)...

Anyone else have any anecdotes like this?

That's a bit crazy. I did enjoy Sonic Heroes (Found it a bit fun), but Shadow the Hedgehog was one of the worst games I'd ever played.

Regardless, you must have been on some serious nutter juice that day to shell out that much without even waiting for reviews.

Eh? I quite enjoy the games I buy for the consoles that I buy after researching what games it has. Is it really that hard to gauge how good or bad a game is with this whole internet thing here?

Wouldn't say that I bought a console, but I pissed about buying a 360 wireless adapter, wireless router and XBL gold just for Halo 3 because some friends said it was "cool"

Guys remember... this was back in 2006. Before it came out, lets face it, the trailers and the gameplay footage looked fucking immense. I add I liked sonic heroes, and actually preferred shadow the hedgehog to sonic heroes, I'm weird, and am a major fanboy of most sonic games before those ones. I wanted that game badly! XD

I knew that the 360 would get more good games in its lifespan, but at the time I still panicked. But yeah, anyone else have a story or am I the only idiot here? XD

Well I just bought a PS3 and I played Infamous (love it), played Killzone 2 (oh god I loved it) but besides that I don't play it that much. I don't regret it but what I do regret is haveing a new kick arse system and not haveing the money to buy new games for it. Next I might get MAG or Rachet.

Never buy consoles for one game. At least know three games you might want for it, because that gives you higher chances that they all don't suck.
I have done this once. When I got by gameboy color, I bought it for red version. I never even bought a different game for it! But thankfully, it was a good game.

For me it was originally for Pearl, but yes mostly for pokemon in general. It will never die, its one of the cockroaches of gaming
