I did the french oral exam a week ago; some tips!
Don't panic! If you panic you will freeze up like jack thompson whenever somebody asks him for
concrete proof of his claims.
Remember your emergency lines incase you get thrown a curve ball. Je ne comprends pas - "I don't understand", Je ne sais pas - "I don't know" and Désolé - "sorry"
Refer to the examiner as "madam/monsieur", politeness WILL get you marks.
Keep up conversation! your exam WILL NOT go as planned, so prepare accordingly with appropriate lines and prefixes(je trouve.. "I find...", jai suis... "I went...") demonstrate your capability with the past/present and future tenses as much as you can
look the ************ in the eye, and give him/her your best smile, show confidence, and they will think you are better than you are.
One way I practiced was I wrote out my predetermined lines, recorded myself saying them, and then I listened to the recordings on my way to school, it helps a whole bunch!
So what do you do now? contact a friend who speaks french, or at least has a french book, and practice with them (I did this using Skype and my girlfriend, and it is the best way to practice for the exam) write out your lines, gather a document and have a paragraph on it, you WILL get the chance to use it.
lastly, before the exam, PREPARE! if that means skipping a class (my school let us out an hour early) so you can get into french-mode, so fucking be it. do NOT go in with the first french word you've spoken in that day being "bonjour madam! Je m'appelle
Death_Korps_Kommissar".
Good luck! Lemme know how you get on
