Punk rock will never be mainstream again. The music industry and people who enjoy popular music are far to 'safe' now. In the late 70s punk rock was a real musical revolution but today most people are content to listen to their Gagas and Biebers and when you shove a band like Comeback Kid in their face the claim it's just noise, it doesn't explode their earholes like it would've done thirty years ago when Minor Threat and Black Flag ruled the scene. The King Blues wrote a song called What If Punk Never Happened which describes a society full of lazy dicks who have no punk to move and motivate them; if you ask me, that's what society is like right now in terms of musicGuitar Gamer said:west coast Canada, as far as I can tell most punks over here died of heroine overuse in the 80's.CrashBang said:Where do you come from? In the UK, as long as we have Gallows, we have punk rock. I guess the original reason/purpose for punk rock has died and that's nobody's fault. Now the raw energy is carried on by hardcore bands like Every Time I Die, Feed The Rhino, This Is Hell, Cancer Bats, Gallows, Converge, The Bronx and othersGuitar Gamer said:that's impossible, it's already dead T__T
At least where I come from.
OT: Impossible, I couldn't kill Hal Jordan. The only thing to ever kill Hal Jordan was Hal Jordan
To tell ya the truth I only ever heard of Canver bats from yer list.
I'm sure there's a few bands left here as well. but I think punk had it's 15 minutes................hopefully not but it;s a real stretch to say punk is in any way mainstream still
Anyway, end of rant, go check out the bands I listen if you want to hear some truly fantastic punk-influenced hardcore magic! Converge are one of the most influential bands around and Gallows, in recent years, have turned the British music scene on it's head
