And IF he can find a hard copy of it. I got one but the hunt is similar to finding a new unopened copy of Salival

You could buy hard copies instead and stop killing gaming through digital distribution.

You absolutely must start with the first game. There is no alternative.
This poster speaks the truth. The experience of ME2 is greatly enhanced if you import a character from ME1. ME1 is a great game, and I hope you get it - it is very much worth the money :)

For $5 it would be criminal for anyone not to own and play the original Mass Effect. Its a great game with an awesome story. Has elevators which come on who doesnt like riding in elevators! Okay last one was a joke but its a great experience and well worth playing before the second one.

Man that game is still worth the 60 i spent on it when it came out so for it too be 5 is just blowing my mind how anyone doesnt own it now.
he's right.

I laughed at this. Mostly because I knew the rise he would get out of a lot of users on here, but mostly because he didn't contribute at all to what the topic is about.

OT: Gotta buy the first one man...but buy the second as well since you'll probably love the story enough to want to see it through!

Actually, since the most troublesome elevator simply existed to hide loading screens (the one in the normandy) you'll note significant improvement on the PC version. Rather than taking 20 - 30 seconds for a 10 foot trip, it takes perhaps 2 - 3 seconds instead on my machine!

Also, I'd say the first one. It's certainly the weaker of the two games, but it is still worth playing through before jumping into the second.

Only consoles depend on physical sales, the PC can survive just fine selling digital copies.

At the OP:

Why have you not already bought this game? That's pocket money they're asking for, right there.

I was considering getting this, but I decided not to. I'm saving up for either Starcraft II or something else that I want. :)

while I had more fun playing Mass Effect 2, I really only believe that's the case because I played Mass Effect 1. as said earlier, there is NO alternative, play them both or dont' play them at all.

but play them. the ME series is quite simply the best thing out there.

oh, btw. don't know if everyone knew this, but the retail price of ME2 has been dropped to $40 for the 360, and $30 for PC, new. so even if you don't have steam, I simply can't find a reason why anyone who's even mildy curious about the ME series shouldn't jump on now.

There is a website you can go to and get Mass Effect saves to import for ME2 gameplay, if you don't wanna play the first. But the story pretty much requires you to play the first to know whats going on.

If you have any problems installing ME2 let me know, I did as well and eventually worked it out.

the deal on Mass Effect 2 isn't that great, it's 30euros over here which is pretty the same price you can find it everywhere else.

Mass Effect 1 for 3,74? on the other hand is amazing

Yes..like MP3's killed the music industry, or Netflix's Streaming service killed TV/Movies.

OH WAIT.
