I bought Alan Wake yesterday and went nuts over the game. Amazing story, engrossing plot, creepy want to crap yourself moments here and there, but what I didn't realize was, Alan enjoys redirecting death blows.

Normal in video games you say? Well.. not when he redirects it at the X-Box itself! Strange story? Well, coming from a game like this, expect one. I was enjoying the game greatly, playing through it with no signs of real trouble yet till a group of Taken surround and attempt to eat my flesh. Well, I thought, I'm going to be screwed. So I dodged and dodged again, but as my life dwindled, and the death blow was imminent... AS the axe was dropping on my skull... Error 47, Hardware failure.

Alan Wake protected himself by destroying the X-box's hardware! Well, probably wasn't him but you have to admit the irony of the situation. I tried a few times after i took the game out and it wasn't an eternal darkness moment, the system died.

Has anyone else had a moment like this? I'm just curious to see some interesting, ironic failure stories or similar moments.

The first time I played Portal it was on a bad disk so whenever I died the game had a habit of freezing, it really built the tension in those difficult bits

That's like when my laptop completely crashed and turned itself off when an explosion went of in a game I was playing, as soon as the noise sounded the screen just went black o_O

I'd be too busy crying to post on here...
I had the box for 2.6 years, Its still under the error 47 warranty for bad hardware so its a free repair. But still, The irony of it honestly makes me laugh so hard. Plus it gives me a great story to tell.

I mean really, how perfect was the failure of the hardware's timing? Plus, my disk isn't damaged; so it's still playable. All in all, it could have been a lot worse.
