I'm pretty sure us western people don't have a monopoly on crazy people, guns, metal, or prisons. There was nothing in that trailer that wouldn't have made perfect sense in the East. To say that they should be confined to things that "look" Japanese is bordering on racist, I'm afraid.

Oh come on that's just a line in the trailer, an excuse for an abandoned place, where nobody lives.

They were too high or drunk, maybe even both, to figure out a better story.
