I have Fallout 3 and I want to get The Pitt for the Infiltrator. And that's the only reason I want it.

The Infiltrator is a beaut. The Pitt has a nice setting and an alright story to boot! Not to mention Tribal Power armour (which looks like a Chaos Iron Warrior from 40K)

I have always loved the torque bow on Gears of War series. It is so satisfying to get kills with it. Nothing like sticking someone, impending death and nothing they can do about it.

Starting with Gears of War 2 it got even better since you can get headshots with it. The few times I managed to get a headshot and stick a guy behind him as the bolt went straight thru the first dudes skull were awesome.

If Gears of War 3 took it out, which thankfully they didn't, it very well might prevent me from buying the game. I love the weapon so much.

Well I bought Painkiller.

So yes.
It shoots shurikens and lightning. The only way it could be cooler was if it had tits and was on fire.

Yeah, this one.

Yeah, this one.
I heard the review and saw it on GoG for three dollars, what's a man to do?
I grabbed it off Steam two years ago during a Christmas sale.

I think it was like 2 euro?

I enjoyed RF: Armageddon... the Magnet Gun is an awesome weapon. Pity the Aliens weren't all that fun to fight.

At least 50% of the Gears of War revenue is because of the chainsaw bayonets. Forget plot and graphics and acting and sound. It was the chainsaw bayonets that did it.

ok, just to get started .. i LOVED red faction (the original) hated the second .... the third seems just as crap when out of nowhere THE F$*#ING MAGNET GUN!!!!!!!!!

has anyone else seen this thing?!?! ... you can throw entire portions of buildings at enemies!! or if you're inside the actual building in question then god hel.... nah god aint saving you from this.

enemies bringing you down?? how about bringing them down .. a few floors ... by collapsing the entire frikking roof on them! ... i'll stop now because the amount you can do with this gun is amazing ... also you can rebuild anything you destroy in seconds ... jeezuz has anyone else seen this thing?

have you ever wanted to buy an entire game just for 1 gun???
That. Sounds. AWESOME

It's a shame I'll never get the game because the rest of it doesn't interest me whatsoever

OT: though I've never bought a game purely because of one weapon, but when I saw that MW2 had the TAR-21 (a gun I am still in love with) I defintiely wanted the game a little bit more than I had previously.

Hell yes. I bought Armed and Dangerous simply on the premise that one of the guns fires sharks. My choice was entirely down to this picture:
Yes yes yes yes yes. The Landshark gun. Best weapon in any game ever.

Seeing Portal is too easy an answer, this one even comes with a commercial for the weapon in-game:

Never, A single weapon in a game seems like a very poor reason to buy it. Good games have good weapons, take Bioshock 1, its clever plasmids were a core part of the game play, but I found the fun was going in blind and then figuring out which ones worked best.

Wow, I'm surprised no-one's said this yet:

"Fucking magnet guns: How do they work?"

On topic: Can't say I've ever bought something for one weapon. Pre-ordered, on occasion, but it was a gun that shot black holes so it was worth it.

Cerebral Bore from Turok 2 N64 days had me hyped.

I didn't buy the game because of that gun...but a brain seeking drill certainly wasn't turning me away. Too bad the game had so many frame rate issues to be truly fun.

I liked the original RYNO better. But that was funny. It seems they don't mind making it that easy to just hold down the trigger forever to win. (It was balanced before)

I didn't buy the game for it, but it made the game for me: the control tether in Metal Arms: Glitch in the System

It didn't break the game, but actually added some depth into the combat, and made multiplayer 10x more fun than it would've been otherwise.
