I was actually the culprit when I first came here. I used an avatar that I didn't know someone else had. He sent me a very polite message asking me to change it, and even linked me to some substitutes.

I sent him a message back agreeing to change it(although I think the message came off more rude than I would have liked).

Anyway, if someone took mine, I'd be a little pissed, since I made it myself. I'd message them and ask them to change it.

It would be odd to see someone else with my avatar, and I would admittedly be a bit annoyed, but it's not as though I created the image. But I never change my avatar, either, because I consider it part of my online identity.

Pretty much the same for me. This is who I am. This is my face. On the internet anyway. Whilst I act the same as I do in real life, I still think that 'me online' and 'me offline' are different people because of that whole 'anonymity' thing.

Well I'm pretty sure I'm far from the only person on the net who uses Cthulhu as avatar, but I try to use a variation from 'standard' pics of this behemoth. But I pretty much associate it to my username now.

I understand why you'd hold it in such high esteem, but may I ask why the pineapple? It baffles me.

While I was in Vietnam during one of my time-machine vacations, I accidentally killed a Jamaican named Lenny Kravitz, and because I was so filled with guilt I made it my life's mission to take care of his pineapple.

Sadly, after 15 minutes, I got hungry and ate it, and now its ghost is haunting my avatar.

If I personally 100% made the avatar, then I would be f*cking pissed to the point where I would get my hacker friend to find out where you live, I would go there, then I would tape you to a chair and slowly cut your eyes out.

if I maybe took a couple images(like, 40% me) and just made something out of them, I would be a little angry

If I just took an image I found off of the internet(I always ask permission) then I would be like,
"HEY COOL!! you gots the same avatar, lol ^_^"

my avatar is a youtube still image of one of my favorite vocaloid videos, so I would not be mad.

Keep looking around the forums there's a group all using an animated avatar of Jim Carey's face on Lady Gaga's body.

Actually, that was just for dududf's birthday, nearly all of them have changed it back now thankfully.
The funniest thing was, that dududf had changed his avatar to a different part of the video with Bill Cosby's face.

OT:I don't think I've ever had my avatar stolen, or stolen someone else's, but if someone took my Whack-A-Kitty then I would have to play Whack-An-Avatar-Thief-With-A-Bat

I once raged at someone who sent me a message, because he had the same avatar as someone who hated me, and I consequently thought his cheery "HAI ^-^" was some sort of cruel taunting. Only after I sent the message did I realise it was a different member using the same avatar.

It would kinda strange to see someone else take it. Although, I wouldn't want the poor soul to copy my avatar. Everyone would ask him " why no funny links this time?". Can you imagine a RAM without the links?
