Have you ever had one of those times when you look at someone and you just know that they're a bit weird .. different?

Here's an example:
In class today a lad walks in and he has his hair shaved short at the sides with a really think (but not spiked) mohawk. With a massive face and he's really tall and a bit fat.

And as soon as he walks in everyone starts talking about him quietly, myself included sadly. People started saying how he was weird and all this and I thought it was a bit weird to judge em on his appearence.
But just like most times people make judgements like that about another school kid, they turned out right.

He is really weird. He sits and hums to himself, dances on the stop and spaztastically, talks about the most obscure things, and laughs for no reason.

The Point:
Now this is all well and good him acting how he wants to act, but how did they know he was gonna turn out like that just based on his looks? And do you think it's wrong?

Edit: Please this isn't a thread on how I judge everyone based on looks and I really didn't mean it to come out like this, but I suck with words.

Sure the thought was inspired by how I judged him but I didn't just leave it at that I did actually talk to him and maintain he's a bit weird. But I don't dislike him for it or treat him any differently.

Hate me for it if you like, I do a bit for judging him myself

Feel free to share any experiences and insight. Or if it's happened to you tell us. It'll make things more interesting.

EDIT: I did have a post here. This discussion no longer has any from interest me and I don't wish to be quoted 5 times a minute (for agreement or disagreement which was around 50/50) so it's gone now.

Although it's mostly unavoidable, I try to avoid being prejudicial.

Although, when I do judge people from their looks; I'm usually right (which is a little bit scary).

I'm glad I don't judge people on first sight, and actually give them a chance.
I'd probably be one of Those People anyway, seeing as I keep myself to myself.

I am one of those people, I'm tall, have long hair ( that's unusual at my school o_O ) and have a deep voice
The only difference is that I'm normally quiet in school ( probably because I just started a new one =P )

I lost respect for you around here.

It went downhill even more here.

Nobody laughs for without a reason, just because you don't know what it is doesn't mean it does not exist. He was probably thinking about chopping all the judgemental pricks up with an axe for laughing at him.

No it isn't, they didn't, and yes it is.

They are pricks, and would have made those comments even if he acted normal.
Lose respect for me if you want, I did, but I'm not gonna lie about it to make myself feel better.

It was mainly my own prejudgements that triggered this thought. And while I agree that it's wrong. They did actually guess right, even if it was a prejudgement based on looks.

Looking at me, you wouldn't expect me to be an absolute nutcase.

It's funny, a lot of kids at school think I'm high all the time.

Only when a person wears their pants low do I judge them by appearance, for this trend is usually followed by idiots or douches.

As for the guy you described, the mohawk dealie does sound pretty stupid, but it's a little unfair to judge him on that alone.

Don't judge people for cheap crap like that. You know what would make a ironic shame? He turns out to be a good person and the "cool" kid a serial rapist.

Not necessarily, I know a few people who keep to themselves mostly and they're not treated in the same style this poor kid was

I was gonna say this, but he did first, so I guess I'll just say something like "Yeah, what he said!"
