The gameplay is great but the mix of lacking content and good content is already showing after 30 hours, me and my friends are already tired of all the maps. The game launched with only 8 maps and maybe half of them are decent/good which is pretty disappointing.
Didn't it launch missing a multiplayer mode and one of the Single Player campaigns, both to be patched in later? It just feels like there's something wrong with that.

Seriously EA, this is one of your flagship titles. The least you can do is have all the content go at launch. I mean, that and not be incredibly buggy.

More or less, yeah, as this chart showed:

Yep the last campaign mission, 1 MP map, and the firing range was supposed to be put in the game today but they delayed the update last night. The COOP and Battle Royale won't launch for another ~3 months, this game is pretty much in early access right now.

We need a new name for this stuff, because when BETAs are essentially early access to the game without any significant changes upon "Release" and Early Access is an indefinite period that the game just keeps adding stuff until it hits "Release", what do we call it when a "Release" game is missing core features despite being "Complete"?

Because this isn't a rare thing anymore. This is a common thing where new games will either be missing full chunks of either content or promised features, which may or may not be patched in later, or are just riddled with bugs to be either unplayable or show that the BETA wasn't actually used for it's intended purpose(or wasn't given enough time to fix things).

Is this essentially what "Games as a Service" means? "It's okay if it's incomplete or broken now, because we'll fix it someday. Pinkie Swear. Don't forget to pre-order the collectors edition".

I heard someone once give them the name 'Triple Alpha' games.

Has a nice ring to it, I reckon.

Games as Service.

In theory it means a solid release backed up by tons of content down the road. In reality, we get our The Sims 4, Hitman, The Division, Battlefield V, Diablo 3 and Paradox Grand Strategy games. Games that are playable but bare bones or badly balanced at release, but grow into really good games as the updates (paid or otherwise) rolls in.

I am not too bothered by it as long as that Pinkie Swear holds up. I can stand Hitman doing episodic content as long as it all releases with high quality or that BFV will have tons more to do in six months (it is plenty fun as it is). But I expect that we'll get a real outrage the moment a major publisher decides to renege on the Pinkie Swear because of low sales or user engagement and thus shaft a promising product for short term loss negation. Games as Service is very much contingent on player trust in the publishers, and they don't exactly have a stellar track record.
