My dad took early retirement, and now doesn't do anything except drink and cook.
Before retiring, he worked as a warehouse manager, or something, I never really payed any attention to his job since it wasn't interesting, and certainly wasn't what I aspired to.

My dad is a self employed computer-whiz and part-time Network Manager, who spents all his free time checking up on where my mum is because he's hopelessly paranoid. Mum, for her part, is unemployed, but is a volunteer Community First Responder, and spends all HER free time out with friends we've never met, making dad's paranoia even worse, and alienating her family.

My mom's an account clerk for a personal finance company.
My dad just retired after a long career teaching kids how to cut hair, and other related stuff to hairdressing. He still owns his own barbershop with about 12 employees, and will for probably another two more years until full retirement. Lucky bastard.

My dad has done a lot of things, from travelling internationally for Shell to running a business re-stumping houses with a product he invented, but most recently he designed, made and sold his own sports/rally car (sort of a cross between a Lotus 7 and a Lotus Elise: very light and very nimble). But he retired a few years ago and now mostly paints.
