Yeah, I know I'm super late to this party but cut me some slack, alright? I've read few webcomics that equaled the genius of 8-Bit Theater so I didn't think I was missing anything at the time.

And actually I'm not sure she's going to stop being what she is. I mean, unless the title is just a complete fake out, it's going to end with her dead. Likely dead, in her apartment, alone, surrounded by filth (which she's already living in) because she's having delusions about video game characters coming and having adventures with her. And if she actually showed any steps in the direction of not being as much of a *****, then I might agree, but she's still at default ***** mode, if not worse at this point. So I don't really see her making much "growth".

Same. I haven't even bothered checking out the comic because of this. The whole "jaded, cynical misanthrope who's right about everything" archetype has been done to death at this point.

And that's not even getting into the other issues I have with Critical Miss...but I don't want to get a warning for speaking my mind about the Escapist's featured content (I've seen it happen to other users).

One thing you need to know though is it's not just about Erin but also making fun of certain famous games. The authors are having fun with that while they progress thae main Erin story arc.

Now it just seems like they went full spoof so I checked out. I check back in from time to time to see if they go back to something a little deeper

Ever thought that this might indeed be a fake out, and it's an alternate version of Erin? I remember someone theorizing that the different characters represent parts of her. Rad is her past self, full of optimism, and energetic, Gunny is her ideal self: Strong, confident, in shape. Not sure who Althea is, but I could take a guess. This looks like a story that while it's enjoying itself, it's also about how Erin needs to get her own mind sorted out without getting it messed up further by drugs, be it weed or pills. I want Erin to come out of this, different, and slightly better than the Erin we see in Critical Miss.

This looks like a story that while it's enjoying itself, it's also about how Erin needs to get her own mind sorted out without getting it messed up further by drugs, be it weed or pills.

This. This, this, this. I think the people that don't like it now are upset mostly that the main theme and tone (Erin trying to recover her life) wasn't stuck with all the way. Personally, I don't mind this flip-flopping around since the intermediary stories and parodies are really good, but I can see what they're saying. Ultimately, I think people shouldn't take the comic as seriously as they are. I mean, I don't blame them for doing so, but it's clear now that this comic's gonna zig-zag between comedy and parody and true drama and suspense. So let's all just enjoy it for the wonderful hybrid that it is.

Fine, I will give you that, but keep in mind, these comics can't be just whipped up overnight. This ain't xkcd. It takes serious time to draw these AND not just draw them but to carefully plan the narrative. Although that's assuming this whole thing wasn't already planned before even the very first panel was drawn. And furthermore, They also have to work on CM. Now even then, is that an excuse for more than a week's worth of waiting for one strip? Well, probably not. But their patron amount isn't exactly gonna break any banks here sadly so I imagine they're both still working on top of all that.

I guess what I'm saying is, cut 'em a little slack here. Losing interest is understandable but the large workload for the authors remains regardless.

They're developing the side characters, mang. Relax. Erin is like the balancing point of it all. Not necessarily where all the weight is going at any one time but she is always there and things generally orbit around her. I'm assuming they're going to wrap this all up into one huge last arc that will be all about Erin by the end. Or at least that's how I would do it.
