Old games that you think need a remake

Title says it all really. Which old games do you think could you use a modern day remake? With your answer, include a short description of the game (for the sake of people who might not have played the original).

One I feel could use a remake is Actraiser, for the SNES. In it you play as God (or 'Master' outside of Japan) who has awoken after being sealed away long ago by Satan (or 'Tazran'). In one half of the game you control an angel of yours, flying over one of several lands. You use him to shoot down flying monsters (which include ones that destroy crops; ones that destroy houses and ones that steal people away); cast a variety of weather-based miracles; and tell your people which direction to build in. In the other half of the game, you personally possess a warrior statue, and hack your way through a variety of demonic enemies with a large sword.

What with all the spr srs shooters these days, I feel a remake of this would be fun. The simulation half could be a Black and White style god game with Third Person Shooter elements for the angel, while the other half could a God of War style hack and slash.

Right, that's my ramble done. Now it's your turn: Which games do you want to be redone?

It's not particularly old, but I'd love Chaos Legion on next gen consoles. It'd be gorgeous.

I think they should do what they did to Super Mario 64
-That is, recreating it the same as the original with a few extras-
onto DS with games such as Conkers Bad Fur Day, Banjo Kazooie and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
I think everyone can agree this would be great.

Blaster Master and Battletoads, from the NES.

In Blaster Master, you follow your pet frog underground to discover a subterranean hell - and, for no reason whatsoever, a futuristic battletank. The greater bulk of the gameplay consists of sidescrolling platforming levels in and out of the tank, and the rest, including boss areas, are isometric on-foot areas.

Battletoads was probably the first Rare game to blow everyone away, though it doesn't get any points for originality in the story department. The characters were obviously influenced by the Ninja Turtles, but the gameplay was lightyears ahead of its time. Every single level was radically different from what came before it. There were numerous crazy vehicle levels, the first boss battle takes place from the BOSS'S point of view and the music was some of the best of the console.

And that's my ramble done! :)

I guess I'd like to see the first Silent Hill remade with todays graphics.

It'd be a shallow cash-in, but I would be there with bells on.

I also long for a Starfox 64/LylatWars DS remake. (I know you didn't say DS lol)
But they would ruin it by not having button controls. :( like they already did! D:

Legaia 2, from the PS2. I LOVED that game, except for the random battles. like the story, the cinematics, the powers, the team combos, the items...EVERYTHING but the random battles

I don't think old games should be remade. The trouble with them is that it will be done by someone who had nothing to do with the original and remakes it how they think it should have been done. As such they always fail to capture that little bit of something special that made you love the game in the first place.

If a game was so wonderful to begin with then it should be playable no matter how old it is.
