Alone in the Dark. One of the two games my parents ever played because (and I'm totally serious here) they knew several developers of the game. They themselves got so completely immersed that they spent one night staying up until 3am trying to figure out how to beat the final boss tree monster. Now this was back when they were in their early 30s, and being in their early 50s now I don't think they have the time or effort to try and play it or Mario Kart (the other game they liked) but when I was growing up AITD was my true introduction to the survival horror genre. Since then I've played the RE and SH series and been impressed, but will always remember Alone in the Dark. A rather fun and choppy-graphics game.

Conker's Bad Fur Day for the N64.

It had the best ending I've ever seen in a game, and that's saying something.

You know what I am talking about, those games that you played as a kid and seemed to be full of stars and happiness. Although when you play them again something is missing and you don't enjoy them as much, maybe because we have become used to top-end graphics and cannot settle to anything else.

First off, two games I remember fondly are Timesplitters 2 and Timesplitters Future Perfect. I spent hours on Virus mode with my brothers or friends, then we'd stop, make some more maps on the easy map editor, then play some more. I also remember the different kinds of monkey you could play, especially Brains the undead monkey, and the little robotic fishbowl that would say, "I'm gonna bust your head wide open!" when you select it.

Then going further back I remember playing the original Half-life. Hitting zombies with crowbars was never so much fun.

Then going even unnecessarily further back, I remember playing Pokemon Blue and Blitzing everything just using the pokemon I got at the start.

So what about you guys? Any fond memories?

Also, If there is a way to play Timeplitters on the 360, then enlighten me. I wish they'd hurry up and make the new one.

(There seems to be quite a few threads that have danced around this subject, but Ah well.)
I like how for you Timesplitters is an "old game".
I must be REALLY old then...

I look back at my days of Galaga on the arcade fondly. I was stoked when it came out on XBOXLA, though it was wayyyyy to easy with a save feature.

I also have a soft spot in my heart for the Chip and Dale game for the NES. It was badass.

The ape escape games were great. I also have fond memories of T.R.A.G., the Syphon Filters on PS1 and the Jurassic park game on SNES.

I fondly recall one of the mario games on the SNES, I forget the name but I used to play it with my Nan ages ago, but when I tried to play it again a few years back I found it incredibly dull.

Also Donkey Kong on the N64 was awesome.

A few old games that come to mind,

Lamborgini Challenge for PC, the first game I ever played. As I recall, cripplingly hard, near impossible to get anywhere, principally because it wouldnt save and you would have to start at the beginning every time.

Also a gem I didnt realise the significance of at the time, Descent for the PC. A full 3d environment, dozens of levels, lots of weapons and enemy variety, and still exciting (in my mind) as it was 10 odd years ago. Looking back the controls were a pig compared to something like ace combat or HAWX, but of their time....
