Halo probably takes this title. Or COD 2.

*checks release dates*

Yep, Halo.

Ummm... Maybe Guild Wars. That's pretty old these days. I would play older games, e.g. Sonic 2, Streets of Rage etc. but I don't have them any more. I am downloading Streets of Rage on XBLA when I take it home next. Can't get XBL in uni.

I play Chrono Trigger through at least twice a year. Better RPGs have come out since then, but I still love that game.

But the OLDEST game I still play on a regular basis has to be, hands-down, River City Ransom for the NES. I can't tell you how many times I've played that so far.

I still occasionally pop in some of the first gen NES games from time to time (from '84-85), like Super Mario Bros, Clu Clu Land, Balloon Fight.

More regularly played old games, though, would probably be some games on my well-worn, but still functional Amiga 500 like Roadwar 2000 ('87), Lord of the Rising Sun ('89), Starflight ('89), Dungeon Master ('88), Defender of the Crown ('86), Pirates! ('90) etc.

If we're talking games you probably couldn't go long without, however, about once a month I'll play a little of at least one of the following on the PC: Sword of the Samurai ('89), Railroad Tycoon Deluxe ('93), and/or Master of Magic ('94)

And, if we're talking emulated stuff, then I'd have to dig back for some of the early 80's goodies in MAME.

Really good games are like classic movies or books. Even if you know them by heart, they're still fun to go through again and, unlike the more static media, there is a greater chance of things being different, depending on the type of game.

Recently, the Quake series, but I'm also playing some SNES and NES games on err...the real consoles, yeah...not on emulators or anything...no.

Bionic Commando and Contra are fun. So is LoZ: A Link to the Past. I wasn't born when all of these were coming out, so it's fun to see what I missed.

What games were the first that you played as a gamer?

Hard to say, I began gaming when I was pretty young. I remember playing Duke Nukem 3D, and I still love it today. Think it was 2000, and I was 4. Also, I think I played Wolf 3D and then a bit later, Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Obviously, we didn't have the latest games. There were others I played, but I can't remember the names, and I barely remember the visuals.

No, I don't go around killing random people in real life. :D

Legend of Zelda OoT will always be a favourite. Same with Goldeneye 007... I loved that game!

Most of my older game's are in storage, so I don't get to play them regularly. However, I've been known to boot up the original Master's of Orion. The graphics are simple, but they work.

I have a friend who doesn't play anything older than Halo 2 and we were chatting about why this is. He mainly put it down to graphics, especially in the case of last gen consoles, which I was shocked by. My most recently played (older) games are FFVII on my PSX and Zelda OoT.

This may not apply to the PC as much. Dunno as I only play older games on the PC. (Medieval 2 Total War, Longest Journey etc).
What's PSX? and the oldest game that I actually play on a somewhat regular basis is Team Fortress 2 on my PS3.

I replay the Monkey Island series about every year, that's about it for really old games though.
I always want to but my copy of the first monkey island was one of those with about 13 freaking discs.
You know that they released a remake of the first monkey island ? it even has the original (unfortunately without the stump) accessible with the push of a button.

Monkey island.
