We know the DS and 3DS aren't really known for console stye action games ala God of War or Ninja Gaiden. But what are some good arcadey, fast paced action games for the DS & 3DS?

Contra 4 for the DS is a homage to the classic Contra titles with dual screen action and a reasonable difficulty curve. It's definitely a must for any fan of Contra.
Gunman Clive is a pretty good western action platformer game you can download on 3DS it's pretty great.
An obscure one on the DS that's worth checking out is Barnyard Blast. It plays like a mash-up of Ghouls n Ghosts with guns. Not quite as fast as Contra...maybe it's more like classic Castlevania...anyway, it's definitely worth taking a look at.
I love Big Bang Mini on the DS, beautiful little shoot em up that is as action-y as it gets. Makes cool use of the Dual screen and touch screen, and offers a pretty tough challenge.
The same studio's take on Breakout, Nervous Brickdown, is also really cool. It's breakout with controlling the Bumper with the stylus and some bizzare twists on levels.

Samurai Warriors Chronicles does well at giving a Koei Hack/slash style.
