old spiderman games or new ones

I have been thinking about the new spiderman games edge of time. And I was wondering do you prefer the old style open world spidermans or the new way they are starting to which is linear

In the middle. Namely Spiderman 2 based on the movie. Ps1 ones were fun at the time not so much now and the latest ones just annoy me.

I like both, to be honest I loved Shattered Dimensions to death. The open world ones could get a bit repetitive, but then you can get terrible linearity like in Edge of Time. I liked shattered dimensions because each of the spider men played differently.

That was such a great game.

By luck or fate, that is the only Spiderman which I've played.

Shattered Dimensions was the best one to date, IMO. Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2: The Movies were both good, so were Spider-Man and Enter Electro for the PS1. But Shattered Dimensions is just awesome.

Spider-Man 2 for the PS2. I still play it for it's incredible web slinging.

I think the open-world element was something that made Spider-man 2 such a blast and Spidey games that lack it feel generic.
