I found the story and gameplay fun, but I found the enemies repetitive, overused and irritating. Although I am glad we got another glimpse of Ulysses before lonesome Road.
Yup, it really takes care of those annoying robo-scorpions. Too bad I found that out after the main quest of the DLC. xDMiracleOfSound said:Just tried out the Proton Axe on some robots - that thing is beast! And there I was worrying about running out of ammo.
Yea. It's the same guy who does Dr Venture's voice.ruedyn said:DOCTOOOOOOR VENTURE! Or someone who at least sounds like him. Haven't really started the main quest just looking for Ulessyse's.
Heh good luck. Even if you don't have a good melee skill, if you find a proton axe or the stronger variant, make sure to use it on the scorpions. That was the only way I could effectively kill them. ;-;MrHilter said:That sounds like its going to be fun. I am also on the hardest difficulty and on hardcore, though I only just hit level 33.AlternatePFG said:Jesus, my character is level 40 and this DLC is hard as hell (Granted I am playing on hard but still) Lobotomites have freaking brush guns and shiskebabs, and take quite a few shots before going down.
As someone who really enjoyed all three of the New Vegas DLC's, I think they are much better than 3's DLC. Dead Money is the smallest, but there's hidden areas and it's pretty much just a straight story. I'd say Old World Blues and Honest Hearts are pretty large, Honest Hearts is a bit more constricted since it's in a canyon though. Content wise, Dead Money and Honest Hearts lasted me about 8 hours, and Old World Blues about 12, exploring everything and exhausting all dialogue options. As far as replay value goes, I'd say they are more replayable than three, there's a whole epilogue with multiple endings for all the DLC and different outcomes and paths as well.Don said:Considering how in hindsight how much of a letdown the DLC for Fallout 3 was, I dunno if its worthwhile; is the DLC as good/better than the best stuff for 3? How big are they, can you explore much? How much replay value?
You get a really cool minigun that uses .38 magnum ammo. The magnums (.45 and .38) are definitely the most common non-energy ammunition you find in the Big Empty. I've heard you can also earn this gun later if you didn't pass the skill check.MrHilter said:I am about twenty minutes into it and it is by far already the best dlc yet. I just barely finished the first conversation with the robots and the sink. Went outside, killed off a few enemies and that was it.
Plus I am pretty dam sure its got DR VENTURE in it.
I havnt actually gotten very far myself only like 20 mins in but what do you get if you make the gun skill check during that first conversation? I only have like 20 guns skill as I focused on energy weapons and explosives with a little melee this playthrough.DustyDrB said:Old World Blues gives you everything you need, no matter what your focus (maybe except for Explosives, but I'm not sure).
There is one of those Y-17 Master Trauma Harness enemies in X-12 that attacks you with one.DustyDrB said:You get a really cool minigun that uses .38 magnum ammo. I have the schematics. The next time I find a workbench, I'll get to upgrading the K9000. I would go to the Sink and get it, but I'm out trying to find the rest of the upgrades for the place.AlternatePFG said:There is one of those Y-17 Master Trauma Harness enemies in X-12 that attacks you with one.DustyDrB said:You get a really cool minigun that uses .38 magnum ammo. Have you gotten the FIDO yet?
No problem. I had two, so I kept my modded K9000 and turned the other one into FIDO.MrHilter said:Thank you good sir. That is amazing news as it means I dont have to go reload a previous save and level up a few times.AlternatePFG said:There is one of those Y-17 Master Trauma Harness enemies in X-12 that attacks you with one.DustyDrB said:You get a really cool minigun that uses .38 magnum ammo. I agree with you, except for one thing: I liked Honest Hearts' story. Joshua Graham played too small a part in it though. I love all my roommates in The Sink.Hybridwolf said:In my humble opinion, it's the best DLC so far for New Vegas. Dead money focuses on too many cheap gimicks, and I despise the characters, espically that ghoul. The lack of decent kit as well makes me cringe, and I still haven't beaten it. Honest Hearts has some really decent kit, but the story is dreadful. You are only forced to talk to Joshua twice, and he plays a small role in the DLC. Most of it is a treasure hunt and the ending is either kill lots of people, or kill lots of people whilst running away.
Old world blues has fantastic gear, a really good story and the best dialoge I've seen for awhile. Talking to the scientists at the begining is hilarous, and the amount of background info revealed here is fantastic. It also has one of the most creepy new foes (who actually remind me of that doctor who episode in the libary and even refernce those episodes if you have the wild wasteland trait) and some really cool features added. I'll admit that dead money is good for being espically challenging and for changing the game's style, and honest hearts had one of the most intresting and saddest characters in it (Desert ranger) but old world blues wipes the floor with those two. Well worth every penny.
So...Toaster is very deserving of a metal song I think.MiracleOfSound said:snip
