Personally the slow paced moaning zombies but only when there is a huge hoard of them.
The faster ones aren't as many in number because 100's of fast paced little buggers would own you instantly..

They aren't technically Zombies, they're most often "infected" but are called Zombies out of habit. TBH i think the running ones are scarier but the shufflers aren't done yet, its all good

Hordes of slow zombies are fun to plow down in a game, whilst nothing instills that panicky feeling as beeing chased by untiring fast ones. The really freaky ones though, are the ones that gives the impression of beeing slow and twitchy then all of a sudden charges you, Usain Bolt-style.

To fight? Slow zombies. Much easier.

To watch people fight? Fast zombies. As long as they don't go after me.

Either way, though, they better have headcrabs on them XD

The fast ones. I remember in the Left 4 Dead demo, where you had to go down, and close the door to end the mission, I waited on the stairs. After a while, a really huge bunch of them came running towards me, all of my teammates were down, at the door there. I got so nervous, I ran away from them, and I was like, soooo scared. And then I ran through the door, behind my teammates, and started popping them.

But slow movies are awesome too, since they seem to do more of those in-your-face, jump-out-of-your-seat moments, and they're generally very silent, and hide theirselves, and have alot of magical powers.

I have to go with the slow shambling zombie horde. The idea wasn't that you die fast to them but that you just can't get away from them as they are too numerous. You hold up somewhere until the supplys of food and water run out and then they force you to make your next move and hope you don't get overwhelmed with the huge amount that have congregated outside your stronghold.

Romero's classic dawn of the dead is probably my favourite zombie movie. I didn't like the remake that much but 28 days later wasn't to bad for a running zombie movie. I also really like the running zombies in Left 4 Dead as I think they suit the game very well, so I don't mind the running zombies just much prefere the old shambling style.

I never understood the fear of the classic slow zombies... Just run... Or kick them... They're not really fast enough to react to anything or to catch up to you so long as you don't stop to sleep for a few hours.

Fast zombies = win. Those are actually scary, those actually make you think "...fuck...FEET DON'T FAIL ME NOW!"

I like the zombies that are usally slow, but once in a while they jump on you from like 10 meters away
A la Left 4 Dead

A healthy mix of the two.
I like this idea, especially if one leg was of the traditional slow Zombie & the other leg if the newer fast running Zombies.

They could chase you quickly, but would constantly be going in circles. Add some 'Yakety Sax' instead of the imposing horror music & it would appear quite funny.

Slow zombies are better. These new, running zombies are not scary at all. They work better in games like L4D, but there isn't the scary part, just the 'oh shit' of something surprising you.

With the slow hordes of zombies, you don't have the fear so much of being zombified, but a fear more of being alone, or the last of your kind. Slow zombies make you live in a world of constant dread and sorrow, where as fast zombies as just a quick end. Way less cool.

Slow Zombies are Real Zombies.

Zombie 101
- If you've got enough time to wipe the blood off your crowbar between zombies, then you'll survive for a while.
- If you've got a shotgun and an ammo crate and you have enough time to reload every two shots, then you'll survive for a while.
- If you're getting chewed to death because you only have a crowbar and the zombies have mobbed you, eaten your children and stolen your wallet, you've been owned.
- If you've got a team of 20 people and half of them are reloading assault rifles while the others shoot at zombies, switching guns when empty, and a vast supply of ammo... well you might just have things sorted whether they move fast or not.
- If you're Alice... why are there no mirrors in Raccoon City?

Oh my, the images! xD

A thousand slow moving zombies are my favourite I think, since it is in my belief that I may actually survive them... However, I probably wouldn't...

I like both really. It seems more appropriate for the recently dead to have a lot more speed and agility, while those who've been pushing up daisies for a while should be lumbering masses of decaying flesh.

Plus I think fast zombies are better used in wide open areas while the slow ones are good in claustrophobic situations.

Well one thing i have noticed is that the "Runners" are a lot more aggressive than their shuffling brethren whom are more passive, or maybe it's just because they are slow so they seem more gentle(don't know how something that eats brains for a living is gentle).

Anyways i think the Running Zombies are scarier because if you barricade your self inside a house there is a chance that they will break through because of their running force, but the shufflers can't really use their momentum so you are quite safe.

Well, I'll take the 28 Days Later/Left 4 Dead type of zombies. Why? Because they're just very, very angry humans and they die as easily as humans. You can kill them by shooting them to any part of the body, you can burn them, you can gas them, you can drown them, you can freeze them, you can radiate them, you can poison them... Hell, you can just let them starve to death.

EDIT: In other words, a zombie apocalypse with those kind of zombies would actually end at some point.
