Yeh FF-IX. Cept the only thing they can do to it is improve the graphics and speed. Everything else must be kept as is. Anyone tinkers elsewhere they get their fingers cut off.
I agree, but they should re-balance the characters somewhat. Freya and Amarant are pretty much useless as long as you can have Steiner and Zidane in your party. Freya's Dragon abilities in particular are all but useless except for Reis' Wind and Dragon Crest (Provided you spend the time to kill 100 dragons). Steiner himself has so much going for him in terms of raw power, survivability AND versatility that there's pretty much no reason (Purely in terms of comparison) not to have him in your party whenever possible.
Not to mention how Trances between the characters range from borderline overpowered (Zidane, Steiner) to almost useless (Quina, Freya).

Resident Evil 1, the Remake...
Yes, remake the remake.
RE4 style controls, better writing, more emphasis on story.
I'd take it from being a survival horror game, to being a well written action thriller with continuity and zombies in, just like it always should have been.
My version of the story:
Alpha and Bravo are dispatched at the same time, taking different paths into the Mansion grounds. Billy's (no longer a wanted criminal, but rather a free man who just got done testifying) train has already crashed, and he's been hiding out in the mansion for a few days now.
Albert is less like Fuhrer Bradly in the original FMA anime, and more like Bradley in Brotherhood, betraying the team from the first scene out and being the clear antagonist.
I'd make the mansion bigger, too.
Oh, and before we'd even get to the mansion there'd be a "day in the life" portion of the game that shows what life at the RPD station was like. Get to know and love the characters, see the build up in tensions as the incidents mount.
It'd be a very involving game

It's not dead yet, and I've seen one of the leaders say (somewhere) that it would be out early 2012 at the latest.
I want to believe this, truly, were it not for the fact that their recent updates are listed on twitter as Jan '10. We can hope, maybe it'll tie in with episode 3?
They decided to stop doing Twitter updates and official media releases because every time they did, some jackasses would use some sort of magic formula to figure out 'when are balck meas gonna be released?'

They are still posting regularly on the forums, and Raminator recently promised to Paypal some guy 50 bucks if it wasn't released before 2013.

off-topic: How do you expect me to type superscript, reCaptcha?
Awesome, thanks for the heads up dude

At this moment in gaming history i would say go for it, and let the companys also spend money experiment with new project while people remake some good old games!

Legend of Dragoon.

Nuff said.
This. I have absolutely no idea why they never made some sort of sequel/remake to it.
I dont know either! It had a freakin amazing story, and is one of the best games I've ever played!

Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Final Fantasy (A reboot)
Custom Robo
Soulcalibur II
Pokemon [Maybe a more advanced console title that had a more complex story (that allowed you to actually catch them all >.<)]

To the people saying "keep it EXACTLY the same but make it look better"... why bother? If you're remaking a game, why not take the opportunity to correct flaws in the original? Don't let nostalgia blind you, I don't believe a single one of these games doesn't have some kind of flaw or flaws (even they're not serious or obvious ones), that could possibly be corrected in a remake.

A full, HD version of X-wing and TIE Fighter would be excellent. Or even Starlancer/Freelancer.
Bah! HD is just a gimmick. You people love to throw the word "gimmick" around at anything that seems strange or different. You know what? Motion Controls are NOT a gimmick, HD is a gimmick, stereoscopic 3D is a gimmick.

HD is not a gimmick by any definition of the word that I know of. 3D does seem to be, but time will tell.

Sure it is. It doesn't improve the gaming experience in any way, shape, or form other than to make the game "look pretty;" and I'm not convinced it does a real good job of that either.

You stole my idea! And my avatar of JB! But yes, TIE Fighter is a must. Unfortunately, with the way Lucasarts does business nowadays, it would probably be released as a mediocre version of Rogue Squadron. Rogue Squadron is a fun series, but it is way too arcadey to contend with the old Flight Sims.
I would like to third this, TIE Fighter or X-Wing vs TIE with a modern reboot polish would be fantastic.

Also, I would kill for a Wing Commander reboot starting with a remake of the first on up (but not Prophecy). Space flight sims need a rebirth.
They really do. What was the last one, DarkStar One?
I believe so, and Freelancer a couple of years before that. The only thing that would really keep that type of game from coming back is the difficulty of successfully giving it a console incarnation mostly due to the amount of controls needed to operate all of the wonderful options like diverting power from one system to another by percents in TIE Fighter. Though I admit I would happily buy an extra peripheral (joystick with keypad etc.) I doubt there is enough of a niche for any developer to take that kind of leap.

Unless you have an incredibly large potential fanbase and/or are creating a hell of a party game (like Guitar Hero or Rock Band), peripherals that only work for one game and cost extra are a death sentence, like in Tony Hawk Ride's case.

They could always come back as a straight PC adaptation but these days a lot of developers try to do all of them at once.

I know its already being done but the original Halo. I dont even care about the graphics that much just XBL enable it so I dont have to crack out my laptop and get destroyed on on Xbox Connect. the problem im afraid their gonna mess it up, if they change Anything, from the physics of a thrown grenade to adding a tiny bit of accuracy to the AR, they will have totally ruined it. and if they put in that stupid melee auto-hit that got introduced in H2 I will snap the disk in half and still expect a refund.
I whole-heartedly disagree. If they don't do a serious redesign The Library, and some lesser redesigns on several of the other levels then they'll have completely failed to correct Halo CEs most serious flaw: the level design is god-awful at many points in the game. I'm not touching that game unless they address that issue.
ok simplistic maybe but not god-awful. Ill admit the library did get repetitive but most of the other levels where great. Assault on the Control room was fantastic as was The Silent Cartographer.
to be fair though I am horribly biased, Halo CE was the game that got me to buy an Xbox, it was the first full-throttle FPS experience id had (yes id played Goldeneye, just wasn't for me), it ranks up there with Ocarina of Time as a brilliant game for me.

Final Fantasy 7 and Final Fantasy 7.
lol no that game was fun for its time but it did NOT age well, and im not talking about the graphics. the majority of that game is frustrating and to be honest kinda boring, not to mention the terrible characters. Final fantasy 8 however.........
That's why it needs a remake, FF8 and FF9 were fine. If it its not broke, Don't fix it right?
fair point, i thought that this thread was about graphical remakes. If not i completely agree with ff7.

DarkStar One is on 360, but I don't know how it plays. If it's good, they could use that as a model.
