Nintendo's mindset seems to mirror Apple's- "We don't configure our products to you; you configure yourself to our products".In true Nintey form, they still haven't added bluetooth audio support for some unfathomable reason
I never said the strategy wasn't working for them. I'm merely pointing out facts to the people upset that the OLED edition isn't some Switch Pro idea. Nintendo isn't concerned with that and they never have, I doubt they ever will Tbh.
That's why I always shrug with people try to fit Nintendo into the console war argument when they aren't technically even a part of it. Nintendo is Nintendo and that works great for a lot of people. To everyone else, it's confusing and nonsensical sometimes.
If you want to play Zelda or Mario you have to get a Nintendo console. If you want to play Metroid or F-Zero you can get fucked though. It helps they have a lot of beloved franchises on exclusive lock, so you have to go to them to play Zelda, Metriod, Mario, etc and they know it. Even if they often neglect the older entries for reasons I don't understand....
Metroid at least is getting a new game(possibly another in the next year or so). Though it would be nice if Fusion, Zero Mission and/or the Prime Trilogy would get a port/emulated release. If you want to play Zelda or Mario you have to get a Nintendo console. If you want to play Metroid or F-Zero you can get fucked though.
Thanks Nintendo!
Yeah but exclusives arent just a Nintendo thing. You would assume if you are a big mario and zelda fan, then you should probably get whatever the latest Nintendo is. That isnt a big deal.It helps they have a lot of beloved franchises on exclusive lock, so you have to go to them to play Zelda, Metriod, Mario, etc and they know it. Even if they often neglect the older entries for reasons I don't understand....
They have to "innovate" for the sake of it, otherwise they consider their old franchises dead weight.Even if they often neglect the older entries for reasons I don't understand....
BTW, get Fast RMX on Switch. It's literally an F-Zero game, all but in name. The game even has the same announcer from the GX game. You, the wife, and the kids will love it.F-Zero is apparently dead forever, it seems.
I think the disappointment is two fold.-Hears the despairing wails of gaming and techbro Youtube-
You'd think after nearly twenty years of the DS, Wii, 3DS, Wii U, and now Switch people would get it through their heads that Nintendo is DONE with the arms race bullshit and is more about being experimental and relying on top tier design brought on by creativity. And considering how the Switch is poised to surpass the Wii's numbers later this calendar year, it seems they were right. Again. And that's not even getting into how the PS5 and Series X have been slow to pick up, a lot of it due to a chip shortage that is expected to last for some time. Not exactly easy to do a "Switch Pro" when that's still going on.
Well there's ya problem: Listening to """insiders""".I think the disappointment is two fold.
Number one all the "insiders" talking about a Switch Pro build up hope.
Not necessarily. OLED screens don't require a backlight. So in theory, this new Switch should run longer on the same battery. Having the same guts also helps.Especially without a new battery, as a bigger screen with better quality is only going to drain battery life faster and the battery life on the standard switches isnt great to begin with.
This. I remember months before the switch even came out, GameXplain at all these "insider" details. Most of it was just Erie spouting bull crap, and any information they did have that was legit, was already well known. They tried the skies it is something new. I had long unsubscribe for them by that point because of their Wonderful 101 review. The people there are trash and they do a crabby job reviewing games and putting out news. I never looked back since.Well there's ya problem: Listening to """insiders""
I never said that I ever did that. That's just the source of the hype.Well there's ya problem: Listening to """insiders""".
Possible, but this might be offset from t he screen itself being larger. Either way I think if there is a difference it will be minimal. Not necessarily. OLED screens don't require a backlight. So in theory, this new Switch should run longer on the same battery. Having the same guts also helps.
I'm sorry, but what part of "It's been seventeen years!" do you have trouble understanding? The only one of Nintendo's systems of those past years to get a power boost was the 3DS and this is how many games utilized it: eight. It was a complete wash. There is basically no basis for the idea of Nintendo doing a "Pro" version other than tech junkies WANTING it to be so and not comprehending that most people don't care about power, they're fine with the system as it is.I think the disappointment is two fold.
Number one all the "insiders" talking about a Switch Pro build up hope. And to be fair Nintendo HAS done a more powerful version of an existing console in the NEW 3DS which had more power behind it to run later generation games. So a Switch Pro wasnt a far-fetched idea considered the limiting power of the Switch compared to the 3rd party games that would be trying to get ports.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 reviews are already talking about how the game doesnt run very well on the Switch, despite the game being primarily a Switch game. Skill Up played and reviewed the game on PC because the game didnt run well on the Switch. So the Switches power is a problem even for games designed to be Switch titles.
Number two would be a confusion as to what Nintendo's OLED Switch is even offering. A better stand, ethernet port, and a slightly bigger screen? The design of this "upgrade" makes no sense considering the internals are no different. Especially without a new battery, as a bigger screen with better quality is only going to drain battery life faster and the battery life on the standard switches isnt great to begin with.
Basically not only is this new Switch not what people wanted, but what it actually is is also disappointing.
I'm not arguing against you. I was merely trying to discuss where people might be coming from regarding this thing. I personally don't give a shit enough about nintendo to care.I'm sorry, but what part of "It's been seventeen years!" do you have trouble understanding? The only one of Nintendo's systems of those past years to get a power boost was the 3DS and this is how many games utilized it: eight. It was a complete wash. Seriously, get off of gaming Youtube more. It is brain poison, it is an insular, elitist community that doesn't get what is going on with the larger population. Video game "insiders" have always had this problem and basing disappointment off their artificial hype is not okay. The Switch is doing fine, in fact it's got a few more years ahead of it. So maybe third parties should learn to optimize instead of whining about needing extra juice to disguise their sloppy coding
The main problem being, that Nintendo was always known for being dogmatic and uptight. That led to their high arrogance. And like I said before, and arrogant anything involving making games, publishing games, or consoles is bad for the industry as a whole. Then again Pokemon struggles to run right in a lot of places. So it's not entirely on 3rd party developers.
