Ten bucks says you can't name an aria other than "Largo al Factotum" (from Rossini's Barber of Seville) or "La Habañera" (from Bizet's Carmen) without looking it up/Googling it.

And don't say "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" (from Final Fantasy VI). That doesn't count.

I've only recently really started to get into classical music. I've been listening to Mozart, Chopin and Beethoven.

I might have to add a couple of arias into the mix, as I sadly have to hand you over 10 bucks at the moment.

You're right I only listen to it every now and then and only the most popular, also I have no clue what you speak of.

I'm pretty sure most people would recognize La Donna e` Mobile, though they probably wouldn't recognize it as an aria.

"Schweig! damit dich Niemand wart" Der Freischutz, act 1 by Carl Maria von Weber.

Do I get my 10 bucks now, or shall I name more?

Ahh, I only know Vesti la giubba (Untouchables, Seinfeld, Simpsons, heaps of other places) and Nessun Dorma (Every time someone quits something) and those two are pretty obvious. I know some stuff from light operettas, G&S, but I'm not an opera fan anyway.

Aria #6, ?Buß und Reu,? from St. Matthew's Passion. I'm humming it right now, but you'll just have to take my word for it.

I enjoy Classical music as I have played in an orchestra for the last three years. I've enjoyed playing Beethoven's 5th, a number of Devojak (forgive my spelling) suites and a few Mozart arrangements as well. I'm not so into Classical music to know specifics about the pieces but I will gladly tell you they rock. Oh, I like Albinoni's Adagio in G minor. So tragic sounding.

Are you trying to make me feel bad for not knowing those songs and stuff? I like classical music but they all have long names and there lots of them. And so what? Sure classical music is great but there's other genres worth listening to, would I be so bold as to call you ignorant for not knowing there names? No.

That would be because I don't listen to opera and prefer to listen to piano music. Funny enough, though, Bach is my favourite classical artist. And I don't know the names of most classical pieces I listen to anyhow. :)

Who knows. With modern music going the way it is, maybe they are just being honest.

I couldn't name any arias. I'm not into opera.

Most other forms of classical music, though...

I'm sorry, but if you are trying to seem all "high and mighty" from listening to a little bit of classical music, your kind of failing. Also ten bucks says you have never heard of Beethoven's overture to the "Consecration of the house", or maybe "la forza del destino", or better yet, Bruch's violin concerto in G minor. Or the Preludium and Allegro in the style of Pugnani by Fritz Kreisler.

Need I go on? Stop trying to make yourself feel better and all "intellignet" it doesn't work.

Dvorak is great! Themes from the New World is one of my favorites. Dvorak is more of a crowd pleaser though.

If you like some of Dvorak you should check some of Paganini's pieces, I really enjoy them!
