I prefer online because I can play naked, seriously though, the only things lan has over online is less lag and you probably have to have the people within 100 ft of you. Also with lan you can t-bag your friends in real life!
I miss the good ol days of LAN parties. How great was 4 people playing goldeneye or perfect dark in the sam room. It made for fun outside of just the game, having that interaction that videogames were made for. More and more games are taking the splitscreen out of games, and for the life of me I don;t know why.
Seconded, and for some reason, I feel the sudden urge to invite everyone over with their laptops for a Starcraft party. Those were awesome! I will say, though, that I get almost (but not quite) that same feel online since I tend to add people who I like to talk to, regardless of skill. The games turn into social hour.
LAN. Much more personal, you can actually interact with people, having fun with friends. Beats dealing with shouting 11 year olds in random servers online.
