Hey - on a related note, since the Oblivion gang seems to be all here - did they de-bug the most recent release of Oblivion? I'd buy it just for that factor, but I read somewhere it is exactly the same as before just re-issued? Anyone know?
yeah im prety sure its exactly the same warts and all, but thats ok to me because it means you can still go up on top of a hill and duplicate 1000 melons and watch them roll down lolz
Thanks, I just wanted to do a few things risk-free of "well that's glitched, now what?"

Shivering Isles, In my opinion was worth the full DLC price I paid, and doesn't the GOTY edition come with all of the other DLC as well? Knights of the Nine, Horse Armour (sigh) etcetera?
You sigh at it, but people still buy horse armour
Does Horse Armour not come with Knights of the Nine though?

Well the Steam GOTY edition if you want to get it on PC is ?24 with the game and ALL DLC which is not bad in my opinion but what you have brought up is the problem with DLC on consoles. There are never any sales and it never comes down in price.

Nope, but we have mods for that (Unless you play on consoles, that is...)

Well, besides helping a poor soul out maybe you can enlighten and educate me as of why the DLC is so bloody expensive.
Shivering Isles isn't really DLC, it's an old-school add-on pack. Calling it DLC somewhat understates what it is. Horse armour was DLC, the Orrery was DLC, Shivering Isles is a full fledged add on pack.

As for why it's more expensive? It's newer. That's all there is to it really.

Oh, the GOTY edition also includes Knights Of The Nine.
The normal PS3 version includes knights of the nine

In any case, I recommend you get the PC version of Oblivion, the game was quite the hit when it first came out, but it has aged horribly, the characters look atrocious and the gameplay it can get quite boring and frustrating, something that is easily solved by a few magic console commands.

On the other hand, the PC version has all the advantages: a whooole lot of mods that make the graphics better, the characters less hideous (still, no escaping from the uncanny valley) and adds a whole lot of nice clothes, and there's even kinky mods if you feel in the mood for some naughty laughs.

Also, the Deadly Reflex mod, which is a pain to install but well worth it, is an overhaul of the whole close combat system in Oblivion, which makes warrior characters a lot more interesting to use. In the vanilla version of the game, either you are a mage or you get bored to hell. It also fixes some of the stealth gameplay issues, but the stealth is still kinda bad even with the possibility of bloody executions.

It's up to you anyway, but I think the vanilla version of Oblivion is quite boring to play.

Oh does it? That's pretty cool. Does it come with the DLC that wasbundled with the PC release or just the main Knights campaign?
Just the main campaign sadly.

GOTY is ALL the expansions not just Shivering Isles, I got it off steam since I sold my Xbox and wanted to keep playing Oblivion and I have everything:

-Knights of the Nine
-Shivering Isles
-Mehrunes Razor
-Fixing the Orrery
-Horse Armour
-Frostcrag Spire
-Battlehorn Castle
-Spell Tomes
-Deepscorn Hollow
-Thieves den

$18 for that lot? Bargain.
As far as I know, there's actually 2 GOTY editions. What you're thinking of is the GOTY Deluxe edition. The GOTY only has SI and NotN.

However, I think the GOTYD is only on PC so if you're getting the console version you may have to stick with the GOTY. If you can get the PC version though, do so. The mod content makes the game that much more amazing.

SI was pretty good but I've only played NotN once, mostly because I just kinda forget that it's there. SI adds a whole new place that looks and feels different from Oblivion so it's definitely worth it.

It doesn't come with Horse Armor. Not my copy, anyway. All I got for it was Shivering Isle and Knights of the Nine, plus the main game. It's still totally worth it, though.

In defense of the OP, it is just two packs as Knights of the Nine, the expansion, was effectively a DLC bundle. In other words, everything on that list except Shivering Isles is the one pack, and that pack is Knights of the Nine. You wouldn't pick up a tin of tomatoes and yell "but you get WATER with it, WATER!" now for example. Having said that, I bought the GOTY version on Steam full price and it remains $/hour one of the best entertainment puchases I've made in my life, probably only second to Morrowind or a piece of hardware in fact.

Over here in England you can get the game of the year edition for only £12.99. I'm not too good with currencies, but I'm damn sure that's less than what they were trying to con you with.

Do you have "GAME" (often shown in big purple letters in their logo) in America? That's the store that sold it for £12.99 over here, so if you do have "GAME" stores over there, try that place.

As for the dlc pricing, it is epic in terms of quality and quantity, so yes, it is worth the downloadable price.

Pssh, that's nothing. Your math is wrong for one, but that's not why it's nothing.

Went down to pick up oblivion at the store, noticed two versions. Regular and GOTY. Looked at both, looking for a difference, Noticed one had a metric crapload of DLC and awesomness while the other was just the vanilla game.

One version was 30 dollars, the other was 20.
Guess which was which? HINT: GOTY was 20...

I called the store associate over and showed it to him, then asked "Are you going to laugh at this with me? Or am I going to have to laugh at YOU as well?"

Shivering Isles is more like an Expansion Pack/Episode than dlc. And I'm talking about the real expansion episodes we used to get on the pc; not like what R* means when they say gta "episode." It adds a huge new land that's completely different, new branching quests, items, and everything else.

It's worth the money but if you shop at Gameslop, you're going to get ripped off. There's a new goty but there's been another goty that's been out for a while. You should be able to find that for pretty cheap.

Well my friend did not buy it and bought Knights of the Nine and he has it so I am assuming it is at least with retail Knights of the Nine anyway.
