You are why I like the Escapist. You pointed out bad arguements while staying civil, which is two things more than what you usually find on the internet.

Yeah, my first post was bad. My brain decided to focus on one particular point of the argument and I hit submit before I really thought about it.

I really should have talked about the games as being marketed to the casual/hardcore audience instead of labeling the games themselves as such. Apparently, the people who take Peggle seriously appreciate it more than most since there is very little randomness, so skill becomes the biggest factor in winning.

I thought it was masses of consoles sold, but the casual gamers don't buy many games.
How many games they buy is irrelevant, the fact that there is so many of them is what counts.
No.

If they buy the console, one game, and that's it, how is that the same as buying the console and buying tons of games?

What makes them casual is they spend less time than say, me. I spend many hours playing video games everyday, that's what I say makes me a hardcore gamer, and say my nine year old cousin, a casual one.

That is the point im trying to get accross, while you and many people other people will buy a heap of games, these people only account for a very small part of the profits the company will make.

The sheer number of people who buy a console, and one or two games, vastly outweighs the amount of people who buy a crapload of games.

What im trying to say is hardcore gamers do not have as big an impact on the industry as you might think.
