Historically, developers have asked their users to vote, causing an influx of fanboys to sign up.

What's special about march where trolls go crazy?

Just realized I called it "March Madness" it's "March Mayhem" around here.

There is a basketball competition every march that is called "March Madness." The Escapist decided to do something similar, "March Mayhem," but instead of it being basketball teams, it's video game developers. So, like flies to the flame, thousands of fans of certain developers come to the forums solely to post on threads about March Mayhem so they can tell everyone about how great there developer of choice is. Sounds innocent, right? Well, we get an enormous amount of flame wars and trolls about that time. I'm pretty sure more people are banned/suspended during march than any other time of the year.

What's worse is that the new people that join the forums for March Mayhem completely disappear after it's over(there are a few exceptions).

and you'd think you could just avoid the March Mayhem threads to avoid the fanboys, right? Wrong. For that month they are everywhere polluting the escapists waters with ignorance and bullshit.

Just wait, I'm sure it'll be a fun headache this year too.

I see it as not existing anymore. Technology (and the internet) will have advanced to a place where the Escapist would be irrelevant. It's successor might still exist though.

Hopefully it will stay relatively the same, although some change is good not too much though.

I orignially came here wathing ZP, but I 've come to find more interesting things, in paticular There Will Be Brawl, (fuckin awesome) and Unskippabel(sp?), which is hilarious.

And also the forums which are the most civilized that I've been to, and the only one I actually post on, albeit rarely. If it ends up like IGN and other sites with idiots runnin around I don't think it would last long.

If it does die it will be a sad day indeed.
